Well, i was going to write a short story, but google actually saved much of my time...ok, now live links for me, yet. But 'social bookmarking link building' should give a nice collection of resources to go through. To simplify much, sharing good and useful content via social bookmarking and other search engines will find you faster there.
social bookmarking have lots of sites that can be seen by other people using those sites...IMO it is a part of link baiting...sites are there and those site with a great content that catches the attention of someone with an account on that social bookmarking site will put your site with someone's page as they add up your site to his list and with that your link popularity will improve...just use tags that will be appropriate for your site...
@Felder and @SeLFiE, I agree with both of you. I have just one thing to add is bookmarking help increasing rankings and bring PR.
But i think some of those bookmark sites use "no fellow" tag. I wonder which are the best bookmarking sites for link building. at the moment im running a campaign for del.icio.us to see how it works.
Even if social bookmarking sites use rel-no-follow, the exposure a site gets is well worth it - can lead to repeat visitors and links from other sources. For me stumbleupon works best.
well I know I am bookmarked on delicious, so far - I havent seen any others that I was on when I search my site
I've seen a lot of hits to my sites after I started bookmarking them. I was shocked. I added the script from socializer to our article directory - but i'm more impressed with the plugins that are out there for wordpress.
Getting your site listed in social bookmarking sites is a good idea. Even if you don't get direct links from them (due to nofollow), it will get your site exposed to other bloggers and webmasters who may link to your site. So it will indirectly get you links.
Social bookmarks are terrific for traffic.. which gets you readers, which eventually gets you links. They don't do much for SEO I'm afraid..
In social bookmarking sites, you could get a backlink when your tag or bookmark is spidered by a bot. You can gain more traffic in those sites because there are lots of people looking for a suitable site depending on what category are they looking for.
yes they do, some of them anyway. Sometimes of my SB posts like connotea or clip-clip for example show up in first page rankings for some of my keywords.
I am fairly new to the social bookmarking process. In fact I am day glo-green. Can someone assist in navigation? My site is listed in del.icio.us, now what? I understand if you do not want to take the time to assist but any info would be great!
A link is a link is a link - whether it provide PR, traffic, backlink count or any mix of them. Social bookmarking can be a boon if you truly have something worthy of others taking a look.
