Uttarayan (known as Makar Sakranti in other parts of India) is the day when the sun starts to travel northwards marking the decline of winter. The days become longer, the skies clearer and the breeze cooler. (Src:About)

Collen, will update you with latest pics after the festival is over;). its so fun from 13th night 2 Am people start flying kites whole night + 14th Morning +14 night + 15th Morning + 15th Night..
so almost 48 hours of continous kite flying..

Plus Music on all terrace + Foods + Dance + TV Show + Get Togather
Main fun in Uttarayan is like you fly your kite high and than you cut the other person's kite which is flying high in sky and than you whistel and cheers

India is the land of festivals.

Sadly people like me have to work on festival days also. Because there is no festival for internet.
