Don't worry about it. Three weeks work... it will pay off eventually. When these updates happen it's easy to get all flustered and worried (am I pi**ing off the webgods????), but all will eventually even itself out. Besides, SERPs are far more valuable than PR, and surely, with 300 pages and hundreds of BLs, you must have visitors, no? Worry about the visitors. There's nothing worse than having a slippery site.
assuming that google does penalize you for a sudden increase, -- my question is -- is such a penality indefinate ? meaning that if one gets 100s of backlinks over night, and is penalized, will this penalty carry over to the next update ?
Well i'm not sure if any of this holds water. I have a fairly new site (started in october) and it has a large amount of content pages. My main homesite page is still showing PR0 but some of my inner pages have updated pagerank to PR3 and PR2. Not all my inner pages have pr but some of them do and they are ONLY linked tot he homepage....no other external links. I have only 71 Inbound links that have been developed over the last 2 months. Yet I still have only a PR0 homepage when some of my innerpages have been update. the site is askcybersteve.com I'm at a loss and dont think its a penalty but who knows!
First thing is that predicted PR means nothing, those tools are worthless and all they do is take a wild guess depending on your incoming backlinks. If you use five PR prediction tools they will probably give you 5 different answers. Gaining links too fast won't affect your PR, It will affect how your site is ranked in the serps. I don't know about everyone else here but I want visitor traffic not bloody PR. That's all my ranting for today...for more PM me.
well i don't think a site can be penalized for linking too fast but it can be for unrelevant reciprocal links.. and links pointing to one home page of the site..
Google cannot penalize your site for any of the external factors, but yes, they can neutralize the effect. I mean, it may not just count them, but it cannot penalize the site, else competitors can use it to penalize your site.
I only backlinked with High PR select sites and boom only 1 month old blog got PR5.. now i dont call myself a noob in SEO..i was smart
I had bought tons of backlinks for my main site, but nothing changes. However, I never buy backlink for entireweb, but it went from PR3 to PR4.
There is simple rule for getting a PR..Build your link within your category. for e.g: If you are writing about Cooking, then linking yourself with high PR technology site is meaningless...you should link urself to other cooking sites. For a cooking blog, even a low PR cooking site is more worth than a PR6 tech site..
People create RSS feed of their content for dissemination - very good Some people display RSS feeds on their website as a means of auto-generating a decent amount of content that is keyword rich (it's processed serverside and displayed as plain text) The RSS content is forever changing Using 3 rss items at the bottom of a 400 word article is a good practice to keep the site fresh and in the index. using 10 rss items as the only content on the page is bad - the content changes from day to day and the SE bots see different content every time they look. What does this say? It says 'I do not think the content on this page is not important enough to keep' Pages like that are not wanted in the SERPs and the SE now knows that the content is likely to have changed and the user will not be happy if they have found a different page from what the SERPs said it would be
2 sites: 1. Had pr3 and was predicted to 5. I've submitted only to free directories. About 3-5 submitions per days. 2. Had pr3 and was predicted to 5. I bought several sitewide links, links from single high pr pages, featured links in the directories... Both got pr0.
Is it an absolute rule ? I mean, this is not really fair. If your content is totally original and does not relate to any other 'usual' content, how are you supposed to build your link strategy ? And if you're on a very thin niche, are you supposed to build link with your competitor (the only guys who have the same content as yours). I dont' get it.
It can be very 'natural' to get a few hundred links overnight if somebody decides to add your site to their blogroll.
I guess you are right, but can you tell me how often can this happen?? I suppose that the low chance of this event to occur might be discarded, but the change that you both sitewide linking and suddenly got 100+++ links in a single shot makes sudden growth quite "unnatural" ... if it's limited to one site. As I stated before receiving large amount of links (1 per site) from large amount of sites is totally different situation .. i.e. the directory case .. Cheers, Venetsian.
one of my site (not addsense include) get PR3 from 0 and some site 3 ==> 0 this site have addsense Why do you think ?
The higher the quality of sites you make the more times it will occur. Make a great page, get it noticed and the links will come flooding in.
Quick growth of inbound links won't probably influent on PR and on the contrary will rise it, but it may seriously influent on your position in SERPs - sometimes badly
the answer is NO - unless you know what DITY (or it's bretheren) is - then it is unlikely you could put enough out there to trip any filters/flags at G So in THEORY - YES - but the sheer number you would need ( and sources) to get in any Do-Do is unlikely 'by accident' .... you'd need industrial strength tools
