Its great news for the club and mls since even though hes a crap player now he is still the most famous footballer so the attention will be good for them. I think the mls is pretty slow paced so he should fit in well.
I believe there paying him more than the whole league was paid last season. It was an insane price to pay for a very good player that can't do what Pele, Beckenbauer, and others couldn't do for the NASL. The funny thing is that AEG also owns the Los Angeles Kings and the CEO was saying bringing Beckham to L.A. was a much bigger thing than bringing Gretsky to L.A.. Hockey in the L.A. area has boomed since then, Pele couldn't help NASL boom or even survive. It may sink Major League Soccer.
As long as they call it soccer and not futball...football involves 22 men on the field and no nets...
Football involves kicking the ball with your foot, not tossing it backing and forth and taking breathers every 20 seconds.
i think soccer has come a long way since the NASL. there is a whole new generation of young soccer players. the term soccer mom was invented recently, after the demise of the NASL. so it may not sink the MSL, Beckham may make it soar. -
