It has been a question for me and can't put it together myself... So any ideas are appreciated.

How is it that Fidel Castro (an anti America president) allows the Guantanamo Bay prison to be in his country?

Because the US had relations long before Castro came to power...at one point, cuba almost became a state.

BTW, hes not an anti-american president, he is a dictator who runs a communist country...you really are the appeaser arn't you...in the words of Gtech, BOO AMERICA!!

Yes I do, because I'm 26 years old and working on a master's degree...how is it that you are able to type with all those rags hanging off your head?

And what did that have to do with the subject matter? Stay on topic please.

It is not part of Cuba. It is a U.S. naval base that was given to U.S. based on a contract from 1934, long before Castro took the power in Cuba. :)

Some might be better off in Guantanamo than in the rest of Cuba...

    ;)

At least they can dress smart and don't have to starve...

The Hilton at Guantanamo offers breath taking tropical views, world class athletics facilities, five star dining facilities, recreation, music by Britney Spears and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and a quran (that got them there in the first place) in every room. Such an easy-going atmosphere, that most are gaining weight during their vacation time!

What more could today's aspiring terrorists and enemy combatants ask for? :D

    Thanks!

    :)

The dress part is actually a joke, but not the rest!

And GTech got a good point there, I would probably bet on them gaining weight, as opposed to cubans, particularly the ones in the poorer rural areas with no tourism to benefit from...

    So...

I am sure Saddam said the same thing about his prisoners, after all a little bit of torture never hurts anyone, right?

Fidel knows in his heart that he needs to cooperate with America and the rest of the free world and their values if he knows what's good for him and his country.

I think Fidel has more important priorities coming from his heart, like how can I get out of hospital, as his doctors seem unable to improve his general condition so he is strong and fit enough to leave hospital

It's not funny at all, the situation in Cuba is dire. The inmates at Guantanamo do have better health care and food.

And why is that? The same way that children in Iraq were dying before the war because of the U.S. sanctions, the people in Cuba suffering right now. Remove the sanctions and the life of people in Cuba will improve. It is funny when you support starving these people and then show concern when they are dying of hunger.

So they get tortured and have no access to legal reprasentation but they get better healthcare and food.

What a load of shit that is.

I think the people down there get mad because they have it better than they have ever had it before...I know some of the inmates have tried to kill themselves...if the US intervenes, it looks bad on the US, if the US lets them die, it looks bad on the US. Its actually a no way we can win situation to anyone but supporters of the war on terrorism.
