Why? This is just a nonsense. The problem is not difficult, it just needs people who care and the resource to solve it.
Spoken like a true arm-chair general. IF you're ever in town, let me know - we could always use the help.
I am involved with homeless question in Canada and I can see no problem with solving it if there is enough resources, the only difference probably between me and you is that I don't go around like you and shout praise the lord and instead look at as a concrete problem and try to find a solution.
If you want to help people that is more than fine with me, but by saying that America is rich therefore everyone should have a home makes it sound like you want some sort of government intervention and government programs do not work through voluntary action, they act through force.
I think you are reading too much bible so your postings doesn't make any sense. What does this mean? Government collect tax from people and yes it is through force. What is wrong with spending this collected tax on the well being of the citizens instead of spending it on killing people in other countries?
Like the homeless family from katrina hit LA who was given a house by a church that turned around and sold it right away because it wasn't in LA. Funny that the ones crying about the homeless problem have never helped a homeless person or family from what I am reading here. Others here have and understand that it isn't just a financial problem or something any amount of money will help. When you go down the streets of S.F. at night and visit homeless people there, you will find a lot of the answers, some people if you helped them back on their feet would be off the streets, but most would be right back by choice. Its the kids that worry me, because they are learning the lifestyle - usually caused by drug use and/or parental issues. They get stuck in that lifestyle because they feel they have no way out. Not sure if any of the homeless are drug-free in SF, it didn't appear that they were. very sad.
I can understand why "Christians" like you don't want to help the homeless and want everyone else also to give up. As long as there is poor and defenseless people in the world, they are forced to come to your soup kitchens and the poor people have to pray and "praise the lord" in order to get some food.
So your message in life is to get people to quit praising God for the things that they do get? Thats rather interesting.
Government mugging people and taking their money isn't charity. If you want to help the homeless, or if anyone else wants to, they are perfectly free to donate their time, money and resources. Supporting government to step in, rob people of their money and give it to someone else isn't doing that.
So do you pay tax or not? You have no problem if the government take your money and waste it on building weapons and use it to kill people in other part of the world but you have problem if they use it to provide a roof over an American citizen head, This is very "Christian" of you.
Mainly because it is unconstitutional to say that one group of people have the right to someone else's money, taxes, property seizures and the like are to be for the publics use and not for the use of citizens selected based upon their income level. Another reason is that it is foolish to write a check to homeless people, helping them survive by giving food, helping them get a job, and that sort of thing is great but to assume that to give someone money will change their direction in life is misguided.
"Thou shalt not steal" Providing for the defense of the country is far different from giving most of my money to beurocrasy and part of it to select individuals.
Are you attacking Christians again, gworld? Can we get a summary of what you have no problem with? Oh, that's right, never a bad word for them, eh?
He feels that for some reason forcing all the other citizens in their country to "help" the poor is in the bible somewhere. I'm afraid that that sort of thing is only found in the "How to become a dictator through promising prosperity in return for rights" manual.
I am sure in your bible it is written that bombing women and children, raping women and torturing people is the Christian way. Rape a woman, kill a child and praise the Lord and God forbid if the money is used to actually help someone.
Who says I am for those things? You don't have to be for one or the other just so you can spend all the people's money, you can be for neither to take the burden off of American Citizens.
Yeah. He often gives terrorist's credit to the US, but he'll never say a bad word about his buds. Oddly enough, this topic bit him in the ass. He was unprepared for the reality that his own country's homeless problem is more than twice as bad as the US, but his only point is to attack/blame America first, always.
stupid "view post" link on ignored posters!!! Oh, well, another clueless ramble from dr.clueless himself. rape women? torture people? Bomb women and children? You got the wrong belief system there little old man, it is the muslims (oh, sorry, extremists) who do that and with great skill. Unless you can show me some facts where Christians are doing this. (btw, links to the very few military men who raped a woman or murdered someone does not count as a Christian mandated rape or klling, just in case you are that clueless.) (and for the others who do actually read this, if you are agreeing with gworld, help him some, since he never reads past a sentence or two)
Well Canada is socialist therefore no problems can ever exist no matter how much data you show him. America has somewhat free trade and as you know, freedom is the source of all evil.
Every American needs to focus on their own compassion towards the homeless and help in any way that they can. Whether this means offering them a room in your own home or funding organizations that really make a difference, you need to pray and focus on helping them yourself and not how others aren't helping.
