PayPal Alternative for Adult Website

I'm making a website for a client, and he wanted to use PayPal to accept credit card payments using the buy it now buttons. The website is selling an Adult DVD.

    PayPal doesn't accept adult merchants.

I've searched these forums and Google to find a trusted PayPal alternative that is free to set-up, and can be used to accept credit-cards at less than astronomical fees.

I need a reliable payment processor that does what PayPal does: Allow small internet businesses to collect credit card payments from anyone (in the U.S., is all I need) at reasonable per-transaction fees.

The difference is that it needs to allow websites selling adult materials.

The website will be essentially useless unless potential buyers can immediately order the DVD with their credit card.

What's the best PayPal alternative for this situation?

No, the customer would need an e-gold account, and couldn't pay with a credit-card. In fact, it's almost impossible to fund an e-gold account with a credit-card, anyway.

Is it possible with moneybookers? I was under the impression that the customer would need a moneybookers account to purchase anything with moneybookers? Is that the case or no?

If potential customers have to register for an account, activate it, and fund it, then they won't bother buying the product.

The PayPal but-it-now button lets anyone with a credit card buy the product now. That's what I need. Also, like PayPal, I need it to be free to set-up, and have less than outrageous transaction fees.

Is there no alternative to PayPal?

    Mature Audiences states
You will need to contact them of course.

I would recommend sending from an email not associated with your account though. Just because Paypal might assume you are already doing this.

You might also check out Neteller as an option and take a look at Ynot message board

ccbill specializes in adult web payments with credit cards. We used them for a non adult website, but know they are very adult friendly based on the mailings that they use to send out and the directories on their website, so they will not give any hassle. The only issue may be that their fees are high, so if you cannot find anything else, they will work. I also do not see anything that suggests that stormpay.com would not accept adult websites, so you might want to contact them.

    hi -

I hope you figured things out.

I've had experience with both PayPal and CCBill.

The prior poster is right about PayPal - if you are selling tangibles (like 'toys', sexy lingerie/apparel, other 'novelties' or professionally produced DVD's - think of going to a bricks and mortar Adult Store. They are down with that. Stuff like services, memberships, self produced content, etc uh-uh...

CCbill - they are a Visa Adult safe harbor. There's a whopping fee to get Visa initial compliance, plus an annual renewal (50% of said whopping fee). If you don't want to go Visa, you only pay the transaction fee which averages 15% and you get Master Card, JCB, Eurodebit options or telephone billing (even more money!) .

Good Luck - Did you make a hook-up? if not e-mail me and I may have a suggestion for you.

    :)

www.ccbill.com is the biggest and best in the adult market if your talking content.

If you're selling tangibles like toys/lingerie they actually offer merchant account and gateway services now as well.

it seems Fethard Finance allow you transfer adult based income~

    http://www.fethard.biz/

Some money that transfered by Fethard Finance is quite “dirty”:

People who are in the business of child pornography or earning money illegally and having difficulties in transfering money into their own bank account tend to use Fethard Finance’s services.

Fethard Finance has also be considered as a easy way to launder: They offer anonymous banking account and you don’t need to pay for taxes if you live outside US.

Usually with adult content, the client will want to build an affiliation program to promote his website otherwise, he won't go far.
CCBILL is not so great, I know a lot webmasters not happy with that one but it can be a solution in the beginning.

There are other alternatives which require a merchant account/gateway (very easy to integrate but you need fill a few papers - need 1-2 weeks to go live). They charge between 5% up to 12% mainly depending on the volume.
Also there are many websites advertising that type of accounts and there are some to avoid;)

Hello to all Mature Content Business Owners. Here is my experience. I started out with Pay Pal when I first got into the biz. Didn't know any better. My account grew to 6000 per month in transactions. One morning I woke up and found my account limited for 6 months. lost all my subscriptions. I was back to square one. It felt like my life was over. For two days I was looking for some one to process. I filled out a ton of application with everybody. Here are some good ones that are working for me.

Alertpay - www DOT alertpay DOT com. Real easy to set up. $0 set up fee 6 percent processing. They pay on time. However please note they may decide to never allow you to process wth mastercard. So you only have Visa and Amex. Two month ago they claimed that they have stopped processing adult sites "(Claimed)". It's in their new terms and conditions. I had $3221 in my account balance which I had set up for withdrawal and about $4000 per month in subscriptions. Limited until 30 days.

    2. Multicards - www DOT multicards DOT com. Set up fee is $99.00. They initially had mastercard then they lost it now they only process Visa, Amex and Diners. Pay weekly after 30 day hold. 10% 6 month reserve. Charge backs will cost you a 45 Euro fine "fee." Wire fees $25.Charge backs must be below 1% or you are in trouble.

    3. Cyberbillsolutions - www DOT cyberbillsolution DOT com. $0 Set up fee. 10% 6 month reserve. 12% processing. All major credit cards and checks accepted except Amex. They pay 3 times monthly after a 30 day hold. Watch your charge backs or your toast.

4 Globill DOT net - www DOT globill DOT net - 0 set up fee. 5% - 10% 6 month reserve. 3-8% processeing. They pay twice monthly after a 7 day hold. Wire tranfer fees form South Africa ($45). Only Visa and Master Card.

I have more guys. Remember get ready to get screwed. For every dollar you make expect 10%-25% in fees. However adult sites make a killing. Thats the name of the game. If your smart, pass on the fees to the consumer.

Banking a good lncome of 15k - 20k per month. I believe with a little more hard work I can double or triple that.

Remember these credit card processors are not your friends. Have more than one. Distribute risk and income sources. Don't wake up one morning and find out that you are out of business.

Watch your charge backs. I could stress that any more. If a customer complains remember refunds are cheaper than charge backs.

I just thought I give back to all those wonderful posts that helped me when pay pal dropped the ball on me. Got to run. Good luck, Merry X-mas.

I am not sure if you think Alertpay will work well for adult sites or not. I have been through their agreement, and section 4.2 says you need the right account type to avoid excess charges on your adult site. Does not seem like they are prohibiting Adults sites entirely to me. It does seem like they are hiding terms so they can hammer us. I am assuming the $779 was Alertpay's fee for your $4000 in subscriptions making this a 19.5% "tax". That is substantially more than the 5-6% they claim to take. Did I misunderstand you? I am not sure what you meant by "Limited for 30 days" either. Thanks for the volume of useful info you were good enough to include for us newbies trying to crack this adult payment nut MUI2000.
