Hello, My forum is not far from meeting critical mass, it seams. After slugging it out for over a year with almost no success, I'm getting about 30 new forum members per day and many of them are actively posting. Now, I'm getting bombarded with question in my email. I'm not sure if people just don' get it or what, but I'm getting email all the time with technical questions that would be GREAT questions for the forum. These people are using the forum to email me. I've got a feeling I could reword some text somewhere, add a tiny little mod, or do something to my vBulletin forum to get my members to post these great questions in the forum. Has anyone had this problem before? What did you do to stop it? Brandon
I've never had to go through it. I think you should add a forum for such questions if it's not already there.. and if it's there then move it up to the top so that members could notice it. Also, stick a note somewhere on your site telling people not to email you and use the forum instead.
The entire focus of the forum is often the exact questions I'm receiving. I find that when I reply and ask the person to post in the forum, maybe 10% actually do it. Brandon
have you thought of just posting the questions in the forum, and answering them there, so when people search they find the answers?
don't you think it would be bad for a board admin to "hide" their email? he could set up a gmail account with an auto-responder looking for the keyword "question" telling them to post all questions in the forum
