I keep noticing these landing pages that don't seem to be affected by the 'google slap'. Take for example this page that appears in the sponsored results for 'spyware'. Not that much content, no internal links, in fact the only links are affiliate links. BTW. Please don't buy any of the recommended software. They're useless programs and people are lured into buying them by offering a free scan that shows false positives. (more info) When I try to promote a page with no internal links i get minimum bids of like $10. Maybe this is being circumvented by cloaking, I don't know what else. Any ideas? Another thing I keep seeing is pages that have a one display url domain but redirect to another domain. It surprises me the google bot isn't programmed to detect any way of redirecting.
Nevertheless I've ended up on quite some landing pages that redirected me to their affiliate links, so either google doesn't always detect it or doesn't always enforce their policy.
Google can detect redirecting but sometimes even they can be fooled. Shoot, there's programs out there selling for $3k a pop to beat Google from detecting "cloaking" in any way and they're pretty damn successful. Sometimes redirecting can seem harmless, though. This can fool the Googlebot
