The Semantic Web: What will the Business Model Be?

So I've been reading about the "semantic web" lately. HEre's the rundown:

Current Search engines will soon be obsolete because of the "semantic web." Meaning, when you type something into google such as:

"Which continent has the most species of poisonous snakes"

    The search engine will return:

"Australia" and to the best of my knowledge - that is all they will return. Another more complex example would be if you typed in something like:

"Which Brand of Camera is the best?"

    It would return:

"Well most people tend to say Canon offers the best digital camera for quality, kodak for price and FujiFilm for using as a paper weight."

What my understanding is, is that the next generation search engines will return this but no web pages along with this. And They will be using a conglomerate of web pages to extract this data. This raises two questions:

    1. If the most relevant information is extracted and protrayed at the search result level... what will be the business model be? Where will the ads go? Will these engines be financially viable?

    2. It would seem to me that this new search engine, if it does not distribute traffic like the search engines currently do, will be under some sort of copyright infringement, because they will be mining sites and lifting content in order to make lots of money for themselves. Will these search engines be legally viable.

What am I missing? Can someone please fill me in?

I think that would be impossible to happen. Because technology or algorithms can't answer a specific question. If that would be the case search engine needs to put a specific answer to a specific question.

Well here's the thing. Technology is developing that analyzes sentences. ... Meaning... If you write a sentence on your web page like this:

Mountain ranges such as the andes the Himalayans and the rockies...

By programming things like "such as" into their search engines they know that words following such as are usually lists. So now if you type in, name me a list of mountains, their search engine will reply "andes, himalayans, rockies,"

This is a very simplistic example, the scientists developing the technology have gone much further, but that is the basic idea.

The new search engines will be able to interpret sentences.

Well google is already doing it .. try Date of birth Charlie Chaplin .. population of usa

Right now Google is building a co-op of sites which will probably be used a references if they gather enough reputation and status.
There will be no copyright infringement since most likely there will be an agreement before they use your site as a reference, also your link is right there as the source. Which is where I would rather be, then them getting info somewhere else.
Just remember not all queries will be "semantic" or necessarily require a "semantic" answer, for example religion related question.
Also I believe there will always be supplementary results just in case I don't agree with Canon is the best digital camera

I hope this is the case, but to hear the way the developers of these new technologies talk, it may not be.

all the semantic web is, is meta data but in an extremely complex and detailed way.

It's called RDF data. Resource Description Framework.

    http://www.w3.org/RDF/

The future is search engines being able to understand RDF, that's about it.

Semantic web is emerging, which provides the infrastructure, languages, and standards for evolving the current document web to a data web. Although it's not clear how we are going to get there, lots of people are developing tools to demonstrate the power of semantic web. For example, I have been building a free community search engine plus a semantic web publishing tool (open source) to showcase the benefits of adding a new semantic dimension to existing web sites. I think semantic web can be used as a new approach for search engine optimization. And it's quite easy to publish product information or job postings in semantic web format with the web2x tool. These semantic data can then be searched more effectively on web2x search engine or any other search engines that support relevant open source ontologies. See more information on the community site http://web2express.org.
