    Dear All

I was thinking of starting a new blog and have a few queries.

    1. Is it better to have a blogspot url or a custom url (for search engine placement).

    2. If I choose to have blogspot address then can I submit my something.blogspot.com to search engines as I do with other domains.

    3. If I choose blogspot to host my blog, how can I make it popular? is it at all possible to submit them to search engines?

    thank you in advance,
    prasad..

I have had a blogger blog running for atleast two years now and it seems to be just the same as if it were hosted on your own domain... not much of a difference.

can we submit a blogspot site to search engines using softwares like IBP? What I mean is does it qualify as a subdomain to be submitted to search engines?

You probably don't have to manually sumbit it. When I started a blog on blogspot, it was indexed within a few days without any effort on my part (and it had less than 10 posts at the time.) I don't know if I was lucky or if blogger shares data with Google since the latter owns it.

1-if you can have a custom url, and own a domain where you can create wether a sub-domain or sub folder for your domain that would be better, there is no harm in using the blogspot as well.

    2-Yes, you can

3-Same techniques as you would be promoting a normal website, 1 thin extra that would be blog directories(IMO)

I have blogs hosted on blogspot, and others WP blogs hosted elsewhere.. Don't really see much difference one way or another. The ONLY limitations I've seen with Blogger are minor:

    1) Directories that require the submitter's e-mail address match the domain of the site.
    2) Atom vs XML feeds

Yes, definitely use blogspot. I use this to get initial traffic to a website of mine, but I'm going to continue using it to draw in more traffic and release special notices relating to my website.

It does get indexed and will definitely have a better chance with a blog in terms of revenue because you can essentially make money for nothing with a blog and an Adsense acount. ;)
