Question about cashing checks..

Hi everyone,

I live in Egypt and I am expecting a check soon. How do I cash my check? Just like any other check go to the bank and get the cash immediately, or do I have to wait. I don't have a bank account, so I just want the cash. I read somewhere that you have to wait like a month for clearing. But for any other check, I just go to the bank and cash it. Is it the same with Google?

most likely you will have to wait for a month before you get the money
in my bank the taxes when you don't have an account are bigger so I just created a bank account

 

My cheque got cleared in max 2 days. I am in India. I hope egypt banks will not take too long to clear them.

 

Just go to the bank and deposit as a normal cheque.

 

A little off-topic, but why don't you have a bank account?

 

If you're receiving in $$ then probably it tooks around 1 months or if you paid in your currency it will be cleared within 3 days, but you need a bank account to deposit the cheque and I gues you can't encash it..

Why can't I just cash it? For any other check you just go to the bank, give'em the check and they give you the money. Never heard about this clearing procedure before Google..

 

Well, I think better you try that, if works, let me know, I too can try...

 

Cheques issued internationally need to be verified before the funds are cleared.
