    Hi all,

There has been quite a buzz in signature buying / selling for sometime now. It would be interesting to know what are you looking for if you want to buy a signature link from a forum member :) Post count? Reputation? iTrader? Join date? Avatar?

    Feel free to comment :)

I would think it would be the number of posts and how active they are from day to day.

    ethics.

You don't want someone to go around on threads calling everyone a "n00b" and causing harm. A lot of people live by eye for an eye and will get revenge(go to your sig links and mass click your ads hoping you get banned.)

I think that is a little harsh doing that, just because someone says things about others, does't give them a reason to go and get them banned.

Saying something to someone is one thing, but then returning the favour by ruining their income is another thing altogether.

There are people that have to support their families and the interent is the way that they do this, plus alot of people spend hours and years putting in alot of work to get money out of it and then others just think it is a way to get back for something they said by killing their business.

I don't think so, and if it does happen then it is very wrong.

Why don't people just stick together and be happy and make this world a better place.

I look at post count, but more importantly I look at how many posts per day the member averages. I will also look at the recent threads to see if they are still posting regularly. At this point I will also look at the quality of the posts and where the posts are located.

This is the only way to make sure that my link stays in view in the proper forums and not buried with all the other old posts.

I'd have to say post count and reputation.

You don't want people spamming with your name attached, do you?

Thanks. Yes you did answer the question. Is that US$? I'll think about it, though it seems a bit high. My SEO guy gets less than that for doing the whole deal :)

To be fair I guess it depends on the value that such a link will deliver. Hard to see for a site like mine.

Posts per day is most imporant for me. Next is the total number of posts.

Reputation matters, but is a minor factor.

I don't care about Itrader and join date.

Isn't that because threads often get spidered once, so you want the new posts to have your link? And if they don't make new posts and just have a ton, it may not help?

I agree totally. Even though I have good rep. It's not important. It's how many times you post per day and how many posts in total you have that is pivotal in my decision.

    Col :)

    It is not about spiders.

I buy signatures for traffic and fresh posts send more traffic.

This is probably a really stupid question, but....

If buying a sig link, does it matter where that person posts? Must it be a relevant site?

    1. I guess the links alone will help PR
    2. But links on a relevant site.......will also drive traffic?

Re 2 above, for me it might be hard to find someone 'relevant' to sell me a sig link, given my site is quite narrowly focused? Any thoughts or tips appreciated.

It is advisable to buy a link from a member that regularly posts in a forum that is relevant to your site :)

For example, I used to have a link to my SEO site in my sig and it receives much more clicks than the other because I post more threads in the SEO / Google forum.

    Posts per day
