Search Engine Land - Danny Sullivan's new site

I haven't seen mention of www.searchengineland.com here yet, so thought I'd mention it.

The point of this post is if you are involved in search engine optimization or search engine marketing... you pretty much need your head checked if you don't follow what Danny Sullivan has to say.

He use to edit Search Engine Watch, a site he started, then sold. But now he runs Search Engine Land, a site launched on the 11th of December 2006.

If this is news to you, it will be like tasting ice cream for the first time, otherwise, most people should have heard the news by now.

Either way, if you haven't already, add it to your daily routine.

Would like the site much better if he didnt use nofollows for comment links.

Not saying the info isnt usefull but I follow more blogs that I can benifit from whenever I want to comment about something. :)

    Guess im selfish.

Beeing following this site since the beginning, and the only great thing with the site is that instead of bookmarking 50 different sites I can now bookmark one site and get the information.

it just a shame you have to register with typekey to post any comments. I suspect that puts alot of people off.

What disappoints me about the many blogs I subscribed to via RSS is that they're almost all what I call 'META Blogs'. They just blog about what someone was blogging about rather than blogging fresh and unique stuff. SEOmoz and Pronet are 2 exceptions but I haven't seen much interesting from SEL yet.

I have - he pointed me to a search engine I did not know about, at one point, for instance. To me the value is precisely in that he keeps up with stuff I could not possibly find for myself. Just now this interview for instance.

Yes, there's the occasional interesting post but it hasn't lived up to the / my expectations to be honest. I see posts about Google hiring some video dude, about calendars, about Google Reader, about AdSense bugs, about GMaps greetings and more stuff that isn't even related to searching and search engines.

If I want to read about Google stuff I'll go to Phillipp Lensen's blog, if I want to know about AdSense bugs I'll check the official blog or Jensense. On Search Engine Land I was hoping to read about search engines, not filler stuff about what other people reported on.

IMO it's OK to not cover everything. It seems like all these bloggers feel they need to regurgitate what others posted just to show they didn't miss it.

Anyway, maybe I'm just being anal.

BTW SEroundtable is also an exception. They do tend to cover a lot and also in 'META fashion' but at least they always give their own spin or interpretation rather than just one paragraph saying "look what this guy found [link]".

I noticed that jensense was pretty late on some of the recent adsense news. If I hadn't followed other blogs, I would just have missed it.

Welcome to the SEO world my friend. Every day I read something on a site that is similar to what I have read before etc. Just take a look at this forum. People tend to repeat what they have read, without checking the fact. Thats why you should move really slowly with implementing "new and profound" SEO techniques to your site.

Welcome to seo tops30.... wtf too funny?

Ok, anyways, SEL has kept kicking it up a notch and is being cited everywhere and I think Danny's plan is pump out great content and lots of it as that is certainly what is happening of late.

Check it out if you haven't yet: Search Engine Land.
