Getting Pages Indexed Faster

    Hey all,

    I run a news blog that requires my pages to be indexed extremely quickly in order to obtain the most traffic. Are there any techniques I should be aware of to attempt to get my new posts indexed within a day or so? My pages get indexed, but it generally takes longer than I would like. That results in me losing traffic because the "freshness" of the news has diminished.

    I think backlinks of pr 5 or 6 should do the job. :)

    Use your meta tags to instruct the bots how often they should visit:

    example: (the BOLD tells the SE bots how often to visit)

    <TITLE>Motoring Report</TITLE>
    <META NAME="description" CONTENT="World wide car, truck and motorcycle news, reviews, testing and information.">
    <META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="automotive, auto, automobiles, cars, trucks, new car, used car, automotive website, automotive news, automotive directory, automotive articles, automotive search, trucks, suv, sema, information, motorcycle, Acura, Audi, BMW. Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Eagle, Ferrari, Ford, General Motors Corp, Global Electric Motorcars, GMC, Honda, HummerHyundai, Infiniti, Isuzu, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Lotus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Oldsmobile, Peugeot, Pontiac, Porsche, Buick, Saab, Saturn, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen, Volvo">
    <meta name='author' content='Lee Kambarian'/>
    <META NAME="revisit-after" CONTENT="3 days">
    <META NAME="robots" CONTENT="index, follow">
    <META NAME="rating" content="general">
    <META NAME="distribution" content="global">
    <META name="verify-v1" content="7sUtCZnO2/jcjMLVJKx9dMliJeaLwYbXVQsJPNJAegM=" />

    Make sure you have bookmarking tags there so readers canbookmark the stories.. The bookmark sites get crawled regularly for hot news topics and if your news is atleast decent, people will bookmark them for you and then they will get indexed very quickly.

    Believe me, it does :)

    The site these tags are for was built on Dec 4th, showed up indexed on dec 7th (google, yahoo etc) and is spidered as shown.. generally I perform in the top 5 results on google for items on the site.. which i attribute, in part.. to the revisit tag :)

    I would'nt however recommend this tag for most websites that arent updated daily as it obviously takes a toll on bandwidth for some of the less friendly spiders.

    Either have a higher pr for your site or link from a higher pr sites. But to keep google coming daily, you will need high pr.

    You are correct. He is merely seeing a different coicindental phrnomenon. If it worked that way, he'd simply have used that tag to get it tom come everyday and we wouldn't be reading this post

    Build out the link profile and ping services seem the best answers to this point

    Get a back link from a high traffic/crawled site..does the trick once you've built up some authority yerself

    yeh back links for high page ranked sites work, and have you tried Google site map, there is an option to tell google how often you update you site. And also I think you can have an RSS feed which will ping google ever time you update.

    Well, I used the revisit tag despite the fact that google ignores them, and I have the feeling that google comes back faster.
    It's really odd especially when you're watching google index your forums. Because they show up under your logs under the admin panel.
    I think to get pages indexed faster you simply need to just get those higher links.

    Get links from DIGG, and you're set to go. You'll get indexed within 24 hours, trust me.. :)

    After updating your post, ping your blog. Also create an account in google webmaster tools. If you have an account in google webmaster tools your site or blog can be crawl often.
