7,000 visitors in the past 2 hours. No signs of the server even getting slow. digg.com/tech_news/7_Things_you_might_hear_about_at_CES_this_week Took over a day to hit the front page, I thought it hadn't made it.
I run all my sites on shared hosting with Positive. They rock. http://www.positive-internet.com/zhosting.html No revenue yet. Will post any interesting stats as I get them. To take full advantage I have linked the dugg story to another story that could get dugg.
shared? Wow! My host used to suspend my site (when i was on shared) as soon as i topped 200 co-current users. Saad I believe alexa updates ranks after 24 hours.
The blog is a custom one rather than Wordpress so that will help a LOT. Its pretty easy on the server I expect.
http://www.shawnhogan.com/2006/04/wordpress-is-not-scaleable.html My software uses 5 queries per page. WP uses about 16 I think.
Congrats on your success man - it's good to see Digg giving traffic to people who spend good time in writing good content Rep added
Don't expect much, digg users dont click. Digg is best to get more backlinks and maybe bookmarked if you have more good material on the site. Even more than that, AFAIK. More like 30 with WP 2.0 You'll be surprised (or not) how few diggers actually read the content.
I'm still pretty impressed that you can survive a front-page Digg without resorting to replacing the dynamic page with a static one, on a shared host.
Don't be surprised. I survived slashdot on a shared host a few years back. It really depends on the server you are on.
