This has been driving me crazy... I use a few tools (including the digital point keyword suggestion tool) I love seobook.com They show you everything - how many searches per keyword, suggestions, plus links to other tools like overtures bid tool, google suggest labs etc. Nichebot is good too (nichebotclassic.com) I also use the free version of webceo. I understand how some of these different tools can have different results. But the last time i did research in webceo, it gave me a kei of 242 for the term 'web hosting'. That is clearly wrong. (and yes i almost keeled over when i saw it, until i double checked the numbers) Lets wrap this up. How do they get the number of searches from google, i've never seen a good tool provided by google. Is there a tool thats pretty accurate? (free or paid) Thanks!!!
The most authoritative keyword tool for Google is Google's own Keyword Tool, though it does not give specific numbers. Outside of that, any tool that claims to get data from Google is really getting ISP logs that contain Google searches. No keyword tool offers real accurate numbers for Google.
I find Nichbot 2.0, which is the upgraded version of nichbotclassic, to be useful in finding keyword phrases with low competition from other websites who market the same products and services I do. I then optimize each one of my internal webpages for the keyword phrase I decide to use, with a program called IBP-9. IPB-9 compares my site with other sites that are ranked in the top 10 for the same keywords I am, and then makes suggestions as to what changes I should make to my site, so that my site is also listed in the top 10. IPB-9 seems to take the guesswork out of SEO, and provides an easy guideline to follow. Acquiring effective keywords from keyword research tools will not get higher rankings, unless the site is also optimized for those keywords. IBP-9 also includes a keyword research tool, but I have to admit, I still like prefer using Nichbot 2.0, mainly because I more familiar with Nichbot, but I do use IBP-9 to optimize my site. I hope all of the above helps. take care from bceagle
Thanks for explaining that Tyson. Google stats should be somewhat accurate? no? seobook is pretty popular. Maybe not for its accuracy but for its usefulness. Its still my favorite for deep research, though theyve been havinng alot of sql errors lately. BCeagle - im gonna try the demo version of IPB-9 it really looks pretty good. I was origingally worried about the accuracy because webceo was soo far off on their numbers They did finally email me back with some gibberish about, heck i dont even know what the excuse was. something about updates. they had my keyword listed with 60k competitors when its more like 200-300 million. even though its free i dont trust it anymore. Thanks for your help guys! Trisha
Hello Trisha The demo version of IBP 9.0 is incomplete, and really only gives you an outline of all the elements IBP considers in order to optimize your site for the keywords you decide on (it also includes a keyword research tool, but I still prefer Nichebot). The full version of IBP provides suggestions as to what you should do, so that you achieve top 10 rankings on your chosen keywords. It actually compares your webpage, to the other sites, who currently are in the top 10. So the theory is, if you make all the changes to your site that IBP suggests, your site will then be in the top 10.
As for me this is the strangest thing - why do they think that doing like your competitors who are in top 10 will help? There is also off-page optimization that matter, so if you use your keyword as much times as your competitors do it not neccessary will help you to rank like they do
To Toe: Yes, I agree with you. Simply optimizing your site for certain keywords by comparing your site to the current sites who hold the top 10 ranking, will not get your site in the top 10. Other optimization elements have to be considered, like having other, well ranked sites, listing your site as a link. The full version of the IBP-9 program also includes the Arelis Link Popularity Improver and Link Management, which helps you to improve the link popularity of your web site, and to manage link partners, plus optimize inbound links. It also includes a web site submission service and a its own keyword suggestion tool. In summary, optimizing a site for effective keywords in order to get in the top 10 takes a lot of work on a site. Now that I know what I know now, I can say, getting an effective domain name is the first thing to consider, before a website is built.
I know, but as I remember top 10 link optimizer also compares your pages to competitors' ones. And Arelis... you are to be very used to its interface to use it, for me it is very awkward as for submission - it is not very good idea to submit your pages automatically, sure you know. And IBP has no its own keyword suggestion tool - it uses wordtracker (from which you can get only 15 or 20 words, do not remember exactly, or if you want more you have to buy wordtracker licence) and some other tools like Google trend, overture and similar ones. and from here all the fun begins
Yes, I agree the Arelis link optimizer is awkward to use, and I do not use it, not because it is awkward, but because I rarely get responses from other websites, with whom I want to exchange reciprocal links. I find getting good, quality inbound links from other sites to be the most difficult task, mainly because of the lack of response from other sites. For keyword suggestions, I use Nichbot 2.0, rather than the Wordtracker keyword suggestion tool included with IBP. I do find optimizing my site for keywords with the IBP optimizer to be helping to get higher ranking, but I use other methods and tools for keyword research and inbound links.
absolutely agree. Probably every webmaster is sick and tired of getting one and the same link request letter and surely consider it spam. I do not think it is good, but it's your choise
as I said before, I think that IBP has very strange approach to SEO itself. They give the same pieces of advice if you choose Google, Yahoo or any other SE, but they have different algos! And I really hate their "comperative" method of SEOing
You are wrong. IBP allows you to choose the search engine you are optimizing your site for the keywords, and, the advice is different, depending on the search engine you choose. I know this, because I have tried optimizing my site for keywords with the various search engines, including Google, Yahoo, MSN and others, and the advice given is different everytime. I have read many a SEO article that recommends comparing your site with other sites who currently have high rankings. Why you would hate it is beyond me, since I consider the comparative method to be just one element to consider when optimizing a site.
I think you got different advice just because top 10 sites for the keyword in Google, Yahoo and MSN are not the same. Did you try to compare your pages to the same pages but for different SEs? Yep, one element but not the only. It is good to compare top sites to try to understand reasons why they are top, and then to do better than them, not the same as they did
