I wonder how long until stumble upon becomes like myspace, and people offer to stumble upon you and thumbs up and write a review- for a price? I have had steady stumble upon traffic for months. It is tempting to pay someone or trade someone to get even more thumbs up... but so far I think stumble upon is still pretty innocent, as opposed to myspace...

The StumbleUpon visitors aren't very good if you want to make money or gain links. They are mostly just people looking for something fun to do.

If you have something really funny or with potential to be viral, it's a good source of traffic because you will most likely pick up a few blog and forum links as a result. I have a few pages like this that get stumbled a lot, but they don't make me rich.

I agree with this. I haven't used Stumbleupon but having second thoughts on doing this. That was kinda scary, dropping from PR5 to PR0.

Well, I don't know how to get thousands from stumble but try submitting all of your sites' pages. That's a start.

Not a good idea. That will just get your account flagged. Mine was, and I wasn't even thumbing up only my own pages - nor every page on my site. The result? Some pages are NOT included in the index, but the stumbleupon toolbar DOES know I thumbed them up... So there is sort of a supplemental index there. The good news: you can get your account de-flagged if you stop the 'spam'-like behavior.

Thumb up only those pages on your site that are likely to be popular with stumblers. Also make sure you become part of the stumble-community. One vote for a page is not going to get you real traffic - it's the same as Digg in that way, though it takes only three votes (usually, in my niche) to get you traffic. But that's only if people with a lot of friends give you the thumbs up. Like it is with google: not very thumbs up is weighted evenly. Popular stumblers have more impact on what the rest of the people are stumbling upon, then friend-less stumblers.

Of course the easy way to make sure your site gets stumbled is by actually paying stumbleupon... They do take sponsored stumbles where you pay per stumble. They even have something of an editorial board that makes sure the pages you submit are likely to be popular with stumblers. Again: like google they want to take care of landing-page quality.

I tried this, but I don't consider stumbleupon to be a serious traffic provider. i am not talking about numbers here (had hundreds of visits in few minutes almost to kill my server), but I am talking about quality in here. I could use trafficswarm and other schemes to have this quantity .. I care about quality in the end. And this "I vote for you and you vote for me" it's yet another ARTIFFICIAL thing. I want to have few visits but turn them into members and returning visitors than to have thousads of hits and that's all ... I don't recall having too many members tell me they come from stumbleupon (well NONE came from there). So I'd rather see a smaller traffic and focus on making it bigger and turning more visitors into members that have some huge stats made by people who .. honestly can't care less about my site.

I might be weird, but I don't like these schemes

I like watching SU. It's addictive. I get good traffic on some pages but no real conversion. That's ok though because it does usually bring me inbound links.
If you have an SU account please add me as a friend and stumble me. Let me know and I'll stumble you back.

Stumbleupon works great for me, I get about 150 uniques/day to my site. Although the traffic isn't the greatest, I get some good visitors that return and a little revenue. My site is a really good fit for sites like stumbleupon though. If you have an interesting, fun website, I would definitely put it up on stumbleupon, its free!

You should install the stumbleupon toolbar. That way you can see who thumbed you up first - and whether they have a website themselves. You can at least thumb up their profile and make them (your first) friend. That's certainly appreciated.

I wish you guys would stumbleupon my sites www.bannedallstars.com and my blog at http://dinty.bannedallstars.com

I don't ever get any stumbles and no one will be me my friend on there except one guy who lets everyone be his friend. There was this big, fat emo dude wearing a turtleneck with zits all over his face and he even turned me down as a friend. now it says i'm a fan of this big fat emo dude and i can't get it off my profile. Hopefully some people can help me out. Look, i was googling stumpledupon and i found this forum. You guys seem ok. I don't know any other stumbleon users and have no idea how to reach them. I realize this is semi spam but sorry about that.
