Stopping Spamming Users! I'm sick of users posting trying to sell Nokia phones, etc!!

    But theres an option to NOT submit if those categories arent found. So some people check it because I did this on one of my forums and noticed a drop in spam.

    some do, but i think most couldn't care less :p
    well there're lots of othr similar software types and I suppose most "advanced" spammers use their own software, so there gotta be a better way :)

    In my "anti spam" forum I have had good success curtailing spam by not allowing new users to post URLs whether in bounding tags or as plain text. I had to hack phpBB to accomplish this. I am sure a similar hack is available for VB. This is different from simply disallowing images or live links to new users.

    i too suffered from it.but now i use akismet and spam module fro drupal.it works just fine :)

    I have been working on reducing spam on my forums for some time, and I seem to have found a method of virtually eliminating spam from vBulletin forums... I wrote a tutorial on explaining how to do this.

    Its been working for me and I have cut spam down to nearly -ZERO- on my forums.

    Spammers use advanced programs like this one which handles captcha and email confirmation and makes it to simple. Just getting more mods.
