My forum section gets several thousand impressions per day, but has a very low CTR, and only earns a few dollars per day. As an experiment, I am removing the Adsense (replacing them with YPn) to see if my eCPM, or overall earnings increases.. I will post back in a week or so with the results. I'll also let you know how well the YPn performs compared to the Adsense.. .
you could also try different ad units and placements, to see if that can increase the ctr. Also try mess around with colors etc. PM me your site and i can take a look and see if I have any suggestions for you
can you share the url with us plz? i'm interested too.. (do remember not to mix ypn and adsense together) -toby
In the past i've experemented with colors - blending vs contrasting. Blended worked slightly better. I place the ads in the left-side navigation area. Because of the CMS i use (and my limited PHP skillz) where I place the ads is limited.. I'm really more concerned with the rest of my ad's getting a better CPC than with what happens with the ads in this area of my site. it's a combo site/forum and the "site" portion earns farrr more than the forum area.
I can help you if your ctr is less then 4% will charge $50 (money back if your ctr doesnt average more then 3.5%)
Ok.. so far it's too soon to see if i get UNsmartpriced, but i have made this observation: YPn targeting is totally retarded and their ad inventory is LAME! On 8 out of 10 pages (forum topics) all I have is ads for "refinancing".. when Adsense was on these same pages they almost always (99.999% of the time) had good, relevent ads..
hehe... ypn.. retart.. hehe i suggest you try to optimize ur ads placement.. and even trying random colour test... cause community is often ad blinded...
