ROI with Adsense

So I spent about $80 this month on various forms of advertising, about $50 on banners in forums, and $30 on stumbleupon. I wasn't expecting much, maybe at least half of what I put in I would get back. Sadly, when I checked my adsense account, I found my ROI on my $80 was only $7.00.

I now feel a little discouraged from doing any kind of PPC or banner ads. Does anyone get a good return on their PPC? Am I doing something wrong? Do I need a bigger budget?

    my site,

It really depends on what you are trying to get the visitor to do on your site. If your goal is to have them click on the ads and leave the site, I wouldn't suggest having so many other choices of things to do on the site. If your goal is for them to spread the site to their friends (or a different goal), then expect a lower amount of clicks on ads, and a lower short-term ROI, but a higher long-term ROI.

Why are you paying to advertise. There are so many free ways to promote your site! :) I would suggest actually decreasing your advertising budget, and start looking at ways to increase your guerilla and buzz marketing efforts.

My friend, you could start to remove your adsense web site from your signature.
there's some guys complaining they here banned from Google's Adsense because of click bombing etc... so be carefull.

Then, stop by the reviews forum and ask for some expert review of your site.
maybe you have an issue in design or other stuff.

    good luck!

If you are worried about someone click bombing your AdSense then you can use AdLogger(http://www.adlogger.org) to prevent it. It seems to work very well and it is easy to setup.

About the original post. I was wondering how many clicks did $80 of advertising buy you? Banners don't get you much traffic unless the forum is very popular and then you would have to pay much more than $50.

Really? and whats the use of adlogger if he don't have an account to put it after a BAN?
Are you aware of how much (newbie) guys did have problems in DP because of their adsense sites in signature? I joined DP in Nov or Dec and till today i can count at least 2 or 3 bans because of this. So, dont be the jugde for him ok?

"I found my ROI on my $80 was only $7.00."

You may want to research the term "arbitrage", that sounds like what you are trying to do, or buying adwords clicks to flip them for higher paying clicks on adsense.

I don't have much experience myself with it but thought the term might help your search.

Adlogger will prevent his site from getting click bombed and so his account will not get banned in the first place. I simply made a suggestion about a way to protect himself from such an act. He does not have to use it. So, take it easy.

Arbitrage is serious business and needs a lot of research. And big budgets too. I would suggest looking for other modes of traffic (search engine, digg, link development etc) which would give you better returns via Adsense.

I don't get it. Are you guys saying that Adsense sites in signatures get clickbombed by other DP visitors?

I wouldn't worry about it. I have not come across any problems whatsoever associated with my sites, or anyone elses that I know of for that matter, being in my signature. Most people on DP are here for the same purpose, and most of us play fair.

Maybe scubita had an isolated problem with 1 other user. Who knows.

i think you dont really need to pay for avertisements there are lots of free ways to market / promote your site. you can submit your site to directories, write articles and distribute them to article directories, particapate in forum discussions with your signature in it, exchange bookmarks with delicous or stumbleupon users, etc..

Yes, you are doing something wrong.

As 45n5 suggests, research the term "arbitrage".

Don't buy an ebook, pay for a course, find as much free information about it on the net and come to your own conclusions.

And then throw the next $80 on an Adwords campaign.
