I read an article of how a lawyer in India is saying a kiss in a movie is against the law. Apparently he has a good case because there are such laws. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20070105/ennew_afp/afpentertainmentindia_070105093256 What kind of country do you live in? Why do you live like it's the year 1400? Cannot kiss on screen? You need to advance to the 21st century. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.
Well I dont think the people who live their can decide their own laws But I do agree that some countries have very strict laws and its kind of sad that they cant live their lives like everyone else.
How about not worrying about India unless you live there? I'd be more concerned with countries that have laws on the books that are degrading, harmful or demeaning to women... or that deprive women of basic human rights.
The Film was passed by the Censor Board as Ok in the first place. So I doubt if the makers have anything to worry. Kissing has taken place in Bollywood before..this ain't the first time
That's why I said, they need to fix their country. They cannot make their own laws and they are oppressed by ultra-conservatives. They live like it's medieval times. Kind of sad a movie needs to go through a "censor board" before it can open to the public. Absolute freedom of speech is a basic human right that should be guaranteed to all citizens of all nations throughout the world. Religious and communist institutions, especially in Asia and the Middle East however enslave and oppress the masses and prevent such freedom.
All movies go through the censor board to determine their suitability to the audience. In the age of the net, though, it looks a bit irrelevant. Even if scenes are deleted, they will be available on the net the next day And Mr Polo Shirt, your basic point will be the " freedom of speech" But in a country like India, which is culturally and religiously diverse and still a bit conservative, misuse of freedom of speech can cause havoc in the country. Moral Policing is a sad necessity.
It's still the principal behind it. They're still trying to "prohibit" and restrict people from see certain things. Each person is their own censor and can determine which movie is/isn't suitable for them. They don't need a government to decide.
May I ask, why is is "moral policing" a necessity in India? I don't believe it's a necessity anywhere, anytime. The India people need to hear truth and new opinions so they can break the shackles they're enslaved in. Otherwise, they'll continue to live as slaves to religious ultra-conservatives.
India isn't still as open as the United States, the United Kingdom and many other countries. There is a very thin line which divides what is acceptable from what is not. What may be routine in the US isn't as routine in India. Movies are still largely family friendly they . Access to Hollywood is largely restricted to the Urban areas. Public displays of affections are often frowned against. And, moral policing isn't asked for. There are certain elements who do consider themselves guardians of the law
Heck why dont they basically let them have sex onscreen. Its great for family values and morals as well. On the other side of the ball when i was in lebanon a few years ago i saw a girl in church praying in a string bikini, maybe she was asking forgiveness for what she was wearing that day lolol Im a big fan of the old movies from the 40's and 50's, but they wouldnt go good these days as there isnt enough drugs, sex and booze in them
Yeah read this news earlier..... This is not the first time. The same person has tried to file legal suit many times against the film stars and lost the case many times. He is from Indore. Well this time also he will loose as his case has got no logic at all. But the main core thing to see is that anything wrong with the film, the case is to be filed on the producer who owns the copyright and this guy filed on the film stars. LOL they simply act and get paid. He doesnt even have the brain to think that Anyways in webmaster terms, if the lawyer would have got a blog, then this would be a perfect link bait
I suppose next you'll be pushing for allowing child molestation, bestiality, and rape? There must be a line somewhere. Besides, what's it to you? You can download porn all damn day - Heck, you can DL some "Indian Porn" if you want.
Yeah - They don't know sex exists - The media must EDUCATE THEM! Dude, how is it about "religion"? Maybe they just want some moral standards for their society. I bet you don't have kids. If you do, how would you like it if someone showed them porn and said, "they need to break the shackles they're enslaved in." Whatever.
Oh you're clueless. Hurting someone else (molesting, etc), is in no way the same as GIVING someone the freedom to see a movie. No one is being harmed with any movie because people have the right NOT to go to the movie if it offends them. It's about CHOICE. Each person to choose their own fate.
It's the parents job to disallow the kids to view anything harmful. Just because something is legal, that does not mean EVERYONE is going to see it. It's about CHOICE.
Doesn't matter if they're frowned apon. If people don't want to see them, they don't have to. And how will a society ever come out of it's primitive ultra-conservative state if they are not exposed to something? Everyone is free to choose what is and isn't suitable for them. Give the people the freedom to choose.
