Hi, I'm looking for a wordpress plugin that fetches rss feeds from other sites, and offers me to post excerpts of these posts on my own blog. I have not been able to find such a plugin and don't have time to write one myself. Do you know of any such functionality? Thanks
Seems that Google will definitely penalize people who use this technique now. Why would you want to do this if it's all duplicate content?
What I want to do is this: Have the plugin gather new posts from various sites but not post them directly. I then want to scan the posts, write an opinion / explanation, place an excerpt of the entry and link back to the originating site. The goal is not to steal content, but create a semi automated blog with relevant information. The plugins that were suggested by the richie and austars both don't work for me...
Because my network admin does not allow outbound connections (i.e. fopen()).... Also, they directly post the blog, instead of queuing them.
I use abp (sig) for that... not exactly what you described, but what you can do is set a rule to add a link to the original article at the bottom. You can also set rewrite and relinking rules, etc. Need any help get at me on icq (its in the profile)
Why don't you just add the blogs that you would to scan your RSS reader. If you just want to comment on them there really is no reason to actually download them via a plugin.
I don't know that that is definitely true.. my 64836.info uses an RSS feed exclusively for blog posts and seems to be doing quite well. I don't bother posting to that particular site myself as the domain is really only a placeholder for my reseller account. (I don't sell hosting, just have the account for my own sites).
Just a matter of convenience to have them line-up in wordpress itself vs. my RSS reader. Would mean less copy + past
