When you guys register a new domain, what information do you put in? is it fake? I'm a little concerned with identity theft about having my name and address made public. Has anyone had creepy people calling them? or knocking on their door? spam in the mail? on the phone too? It's a little disconcerting that WHOIS isn't private by default. I think a lot of ppl put in fake information precisely because of this.
No. I always use my real information. Been registering domains since about 1999 and so far no problems.
I would not give fake info for fear of putting ownership in jeopardy. If I did not want my info know, I would use one of the privacy guards.
I wouldn’t enter fake info for whois. I heard they can confiscate your domain if your info aren’t correct. Like what others suggested, try using privacy registration. IMO, its worth the few bucks if you really want to protect your info. FYI, if you register 3 + domains at GoDaddy, you get the privacy registration for free.
Please feel free to post your real information in your whois. because if your domain hack then you may proof your whois history.....
i was told that because one of my sites was classed as a business then i had to display my address. i was contacted by ukreg about this
