I have run all the usual checks, but nothing is picking this up. Basically whenever I search Google, the first 2 times I try to click on a result it redirects to some random other search page (one of them domain holding type pages). But then the 3rd click it works fine. It is really annoying.
Sounds like a browser hijack of some description. You will need to get down and dirty to locate the problem. Perhaps you should elaborate on what 'usual checks' you have done so far?
That surprised me. If it is doing it in FF you do have something strange going on. If I run across any answers I will post. Be sure and update the thread when you figure it out.
Adaware is an excellent program.. along with Spy-bot, I am set! Run them once a week and you are usually good. Its amazing to see what get collected.
If it is only in IE, do the following: tools>internet options>programs> Manage addon programs button Then disable everything you don't recognize including ones "issued by Micosoft" but not verified. Everything but verified by Microsoft is where I would start. Adobe is safe. Then you can selectively add than back until the problem returns. Some scum has downloaded some crapware to your computer. To be honest I think it is one of the well known names in advertising, not Google, I just can't prove it.
