Infraction for warning people about a scammer?

I am sorry for bringing this up, but I just noticed I got an infraction for harassing/attacking a fellow member. On a normal circumstance I would have took this one on the chin and moved on, but for god's sake, there is no doubt about this guy's intentions.

Well this member has consistently scammed people and I was solely trying to warn others that might eventually deal with him as Digitalpoint doesn't seem to find it necessary to ban him.

Funnily enough, I was the one reprehended and the individual that I was referring too still lingers.

    jaradoboy, thanks for the link.

Apologize for the subject duplication. However, this is an entirely different situation.

This guy has persistently gotten away with scamming people, it is not a sole event.

I am not talking out of my ass here, there is solid evidence that indicates and backs up what I'm claiming.

Then post it on your blog. Evidence means nothing without a jury. There is no jury here so it's pointless.

Give them negative iTrader to warn people. If someone gets done in without reading the scammer's iTrader that's their problem.

This is a discussion forum with the added bonus of a Marketplace. This isn't a hate fueled centre of negativity. No matter whether you're right or wrong.

If you have an issue with someone, take it up with him/her or inform applicable authorities, don't pollute the boards with it.

Fair enough. Needless to say of course that it wasn't really my intention. Just wanted to prevent others from loosing their hard earned cash.

We know it was with the best intentions. But we've recently decided we can't support it any longer.

I would like to ask one thing TOPS, if I give a person Itrader (negative) to let others know that this person is not reliable/scammer, and he give a negative to me as well (even If I am honest and good). What is the solution to this?

PS: I didn't feel comfortable to open a new thread so asking here.

Like on eBay, that's the risk you'll have to take. We cannot go and 'investigate' disputed deals or feedback so if you care about exposing someone and want to stay within our rules, leaving negative iTrader (whilst risking scammer's retribution) is your best bet. We simply can't 'check it out'.

    lol! That's a bit strict (isn't this  )

So this means we can't start a thread like "Scammer Alert" in any case?

You can, but you'll have to live with the consequences. An infraction for harrassing other members. It qualifies as a personal attack/harrassment because your evidence, no matter how convincing, ultimately means nothing. It takes a jury to come to a decision and we won't be doing that.

Bottom line is, if you get scammed you should leave iTrader feedback and reputation. That helps the community. Those are the processes we have in place.

    Got ya!
One last thing! If some person scammed a guy, and the victim post a thread about the scammer will that scammer be banned from DP?

No. Unless the person is breaking DP rules, we don't ban him/her/it.

    Hmm
Well that doesn't matter. Once some one create a thread about some scammer, people don't deal with that guy so that's like He (scammer) is dead at DP :)

THanks guys for clearing this up.

Well for some reason you get infractions for doing that. I don't think it is right but it isn't my decision I guess.

    No you didn't.

    You got infractions for:

    -Attacking/harassing other members
    -Inappropriate Post/Thread
    -Duplicate threads
    -Inappropriate language
    -Thread Hijacking
    -Thread started in wrong category

Just about everything BUT spamming. :p

Uhh count the numbers up;) That equals 7 not 9 and I have 9 so there are two for spamming.

Some are worth two points. If you were tagged for spamming, you would have been banned.
