Rob it was the guy who bought it from coolweb who has now just sold the Directory again this time on eBay

 

Who sold it? is probably not very important, the important factor is the market price established.

As in any market there are speculators that engage on arbitrage trading, buy low sell high.

 

Alexa rank is pretty nice for the site (20,428).

I am sure it gets good traffic.

It wasnt coolweb who sold this directory for $8,600. I dont know who is the owner.

 

Give it a few weeks and check again, I've a feeling you'll see a decline. Traffic was declining since beginning of November up until the listing on eBay. The increase in traffic since the end of Dec. is likely from the auction listing and discussions such as this one.

 

you know what would be funny? if coolweb bought it back for 8k

If he is well done and great marketing for the links too on eBay

 

and more funnier, if sells it again for 16 k

 

And guess what if the new owners works in promoting & marketing the site and the site continues to grow with integrity and credibility.

I would not be surprised to see it sell for 16,000 USD by the end of 2007

On the other hand if this, or if that, or the other, and for some reason it is not fully supported it could be a lot less than it is worth now

But I think that is unlikely as someone has just paid 8,600 USD for the Directory

Im a bit late but i just wanted to add, with the sitewide links he is selling on his site, the directory is very well worth the price he got.

 

Just goes to show that there is money to be made with directorys.
I wouldnt consider selling mine, revenue is just just increasing all the time.

 

Ok, but as i know, this kind of heavy sitewide link selling trashes any directory.
Offcourse is a good way to monetize a free directory.

So i think the answer is no, $8600.00 for www.directorydeluxe.com wasn't worth it, its now a pr4 and at the time of viewing an dead page.

Buying websites with a strong leaning towards its google page rank can be a very risky investment, this was pr6 a few months ago.

Im my opinion of course

 

Actually, lot of established directories lost PR point..

 

Well, you cant buy a directory and expect the PR to stay where it's at without promoting, which we have no idea as to whether or not it was or wasn't.
