    Thanks

Anyhow a toolbar is no way to determine a update as stated a few times in this thread. If I posted a PR Update? thread everytime I saw that move I would be starting 1-10 threads aday on the matter. I woould be nice is mods killed the PR Updat threads unless they could be verified with some data by a few respected members.

Just wondering what is the largest average PR jump ? Has anyone seen a site go from say 2 to 7 or something ? I did not want to start another PR thread for this Q. Or does PR only usually move in 1 or 2's

Haha now that is a great post. At times it would make me insane when I didn't rank on the first page for the name of my company. Gabriel Angel Design is NOT a popular search term and I own the domain www.GabrielAngelDesign.com , that points to where my site is actually hosted. It was back to normal a week or 2 ago, but now crap sites have risen back to the top.

Well, IMO, that is the Google Algo in a nutshell. They let the shit float to the top, scrape it off, and start anew... Seems to be working ATM.. In the interim though, it does make a mess of things, especially for those of us searching for something.

I would agree with that. I am seeing fluctuations as well but the PR values seem to be fluctuating between the current values and the values from the previous update. I would guess that either of two things is happening:
    1. Temporary rollback to last update while they fix things.
    2. Rollback to last update followed by another update based on last update's pageranks.

They would go for the second option if they have found out that there was something wrong with the last update. Running another update based on a faulty update won't be a good idea, hence the rollback. Just my 2c worth of speculation ...

Sorry to be all random, but wasn't it confirmed that pagerank won't take place till after the 4th of January?

crazygirl, you could go from 0 to 10 in one update. It's not a matter of only being able to go up so much in one update, it is purely a matter of how many links of what strength you get from one snapshot to the next.

If you build a brand new PR0 blog, and let's say, if you cure world hunger, and the White House, Google, Yahoo, MSN, Adobe, and Apple all link to you from their homepages in homage, then it would be a pretty safe bet you would be a PR10 website next time Google updated.

If you build a website, and you get a link from a PR6 page, even if it's the only link that links to you, then next update you might very well have a PR5 homepage, even if you were PR0 to start with. Same thing if from one update to another you get 100 PR4 links. What your PR was before doesn't matter.

Can go the other way too. If you get a PR6 because of one PR7 link that was linking to you, and you lose that link, then next update you would have your PR calculated without it. If it was the only link, you could go back to PR0.

I'd recommend you just 'touch yourself' in the right places and then head to bed :)

I was joking - is there any real evidence that a PR update is happening "after the the 4th"?

I just got an e-mail telling me one of my sites dropped a PR. I checked and they were right :(

But who knows if the full update has started yet.

Why is my super-sockpupet-sense tingling like mad right now? You're not someone who is already a forum member thinking it would be funny as hell to see how many people they can get to check their PR again, are ya...?

    :D

lol.... PR and dp is like fishing ;)

I seen loads of toolbar movement but only back to the prevoius update.. Nothing new but this often happens before a new update.. I remeber seeing 3 sets of pr at one time..

    New sites no change...

    Thats my 2 cents
