This site The Link Experiment http://www.linkexperiment.com - I was always cricital of this site, its dying and the owner has not updated the blog too. Its a shame that these type of sites die in the end. Was a good idea, but the owner has given up.
Kinda like most wanna be affiliate marketers. Give up in about 3 months often damming the whole industry because they could not quit thier day job within that time.
Might be because of the Christmas season. Either way, not a fan of the sites in that sector. Unless you are the first, or the best, there is no future for you.
Caveat - I have always been very positive on LinkExperiment. When I had my Amazon affiliate sites on the front page, I got a LOT of traffic - but that was back in November. Once they slid off the front page, the traffic went down. So, if it can be brought back to to life - there is a lot of traffic potential for advertisers. I do check it everyday for updates - which have been absent in the past 2 or so weeks. Perhaps it is dying?
The new Million DOllar Homepage isn't doing too well either. It's stalled around $145K.. which isn't bad I suppose, but no-where near the first. I think it's because the world is getting tired of these things. They're not novel anymore, so they're not news-worthy. Back to the drawing board, to come up with some really original ideas.
although, the $145K is just the prize fund, the page is actually selling ads for $2 per pixel so it's really sold close to $300K. So the numbers should grow twice as slow as the first million dollar homepage if it sells at the same rate.
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?q=&url=www.linkexperiment.com After that one spike... traffic dropped and I guess its not doing as well, although the Alexa rank is still quite decent.
Well it's still running although my latest advertising ventures have been pretty much failures. Went through a few hundred dollars without any sales. It looks like people lost interest. Maybe it can make a resurgance if I qualify for the olympic trials. We'll see. Thanks to all the DPers who have been following link experiment. I'm open to any ideas if you guys have any. brandon
