Gone from Google

One of my sites dropped out of Google today. At first, I thought something was wrong with the DP Keyword tracker, but after looking further it appears Google has removed the site from their SERPS. The site is a 10 year old e-commerce site… we don’t do anything blackhat and have made no major changes in the past year. The site still has 5-PR.

Is this just a one day hiccup or should I be concerned?

Easy way to tell if your site was actually banned from the serps or that your site has encountered some kind of large penalty is to search for the domain name itself. If you find it at #1 then your not gone.

How many terms that you used to rank for did you disappear on? Was it just one? If so it might just be a "hiccup". It does happen from time to time.

How about you post the domain so we can give a proper answer?

I had that happen for the first time last week on a site. It came back stronger than ever after two days. Hopefully that will happen with you as well.

We still come up #1 for our name.

I track approx 100 keywords... all but about 5 are no where to be found today.

If it still comes up for your name then give it a few days and see what happens.

Not pretending to be the most knowledgeable person when it comes to SEO, so this is just an opinion.

The first thing that caught my attention is this, what I mean is the listing of all the available sanyo products at the bottom. Forget the fact that the way that they are presented is not user friendly. Just the fact that the word Sanyo is repeated about 100+ times in that page (that doesn't have too much content anyway) may look like keyword spamming.

Edit to add: Another thing that might have affected is you is the wrong links pointing at the wrong pages. It looks like you tried to boost your rankings for one keyword by pointing links to an inner page and got the site penalized.

You're probably right. Five keywords came back in the Keyword Tracker this morning... two are back to their previous positions... the other three are way down in the 100's. Maybe this will settle down in a few days and we'll bounce back better than before.
