.info domains - any good ?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by lordcage, Jan 3, 2007.

I'm planning to register a .info domain, with a keyword (eg. keyword.info)

Does Google like this kind of domain? Or does it give better SERP to .COM .NET .ORG ?

They will act in the same way. There is no difference other than in the eyes of the user. Some don't like them, but I have had success with them.

Google doesn't care what the extension is.

I don't think domain extensions like .com, .net, .info, .org or .info would make any difference in the search engine rankings. However the rankings may differ in case of ccTLDs.

It may have some effect on regional listings as far as the regional domains go.

That is true. But lordcage you are better off with a.com or .net. Typein traffic wouldn't be .info in most cases

I always use .info's. Their cheap and most of the sites I build on them are "information" resources, so works well.

I'd go for a DOT COM. If you get your brainstorming cap on, you can still register good short brand names.

If you create any new word maybe, but in general all possible domains are already taken (even the one noone would think it).
