For those of us who run forums....

Moderators, if this is in the wrong section, please feel free to move...

A little editorialization from yours truly, if I may....

A disturbing trend has been taking place lately - Forums, which are ordinarily run by people who are PASSIONATE about the subject matter, and who CARE about their members' experiences, are being usurped by corporate entities...

These corporate conglomerates know little about your subject matter, but they want your traffic. They'll spend a fortune to get it, too. They'll do whatever it takes to make sure they surpass grassroots sites like ours in the search engines, EVEN if they don't have the depth of content that you have!

NOTE: This is no "sales pitch", just a tool I've been using for a while now that we've seen some moderate success from, and I thought I'd share it - This isn't a moneymaker for me... Just wanted to make sure that's clear.

Zoints is a networking tool FOR FORUMS. It's designed to help keep the Internet independent by empowering the operators of online communities and their members.

Rather than a few large companies controlling the users' experience, Zoints is working to ensure that the beautiful diversity and INDEPENDENCE of the online community continues to flourish.

Here's MY profile - Notice the template and surrounding info is identical to what users of my site see?

Now - If you Google NICOclub.com, you will see that we have a lot of backlinks from OTHER users who have created a profile in Zoints...

To get an idea of what Zoints offers forum owners and operators, please click here, as this can explain better than I can:

    http://zoints.com/tour/forum-members/

Again, I'm not a rep for Z, but we are using it and liking it...

Check www.big-boards.com, there's an entire category for Zoints-enabled forums.

The "Zoints" brand covers several different applications. The "Zoints" social networking system is available for several different forum types while "Zoints Local" (a localized version of their social networking system) and "Zoints Tags" (a thread tagging system) is currently only available for vBulletin.
