I know this has been beat to death but will there be a trademark issue with simpsonstribute.com? I do not want a legal battle and want to know for sure before I develope it.

That can potentially answer your question.

If it'll display any hint of commercial use, then expect trouble. It simply boils
    down to your intended usage.

I need help understanding your answer, please:

-The shows owners need an active fanbase.
-They can't possibly hope to own every domain with the word Simpsons in it.
    -'Expect trouble' with who?
    Google? (probably not)
    The shows producers? (why, how?)

I'm wanting to learn, and don't see why he should not start a site like this.
My neighbor has a "young cousin" who makes over $2,400 per month from a "Harry Potter Fan Site". (for example)

When I hear about him, and others getting shut down, I'll be more careful with plans to start some fan sites of my own. Until then the "source of trouble", seems like just an illusion.

    Any thoughts, anyone?

    I agree...
In my case, I have around 20+ firstnamelastname celebrity sites, never had a problem and yes I do run ads.

As long as the site is POSITIVE and not hurting their name in anyway, I don't see why they would care. If they decide they all of a sudden want the domain < this has happened to me before > the domain was purchased from me, not forced out of my hands :)

BUT - on the other side of things, if you start using copyrighted images (yes all of the images you probably want to use are copyrighted) they can go after you for that.

I agree, the avatar was one in it's own. My biggest concern is a lawsuit. I would gladly take down the site if it were ever an issue. I am starting to think this is a lost cause though :(

-Cost of developing Simpsons Fan Site $0, plus time spent
    -Money to promote project ~$50
    -Knowing it's a 'tribute', and
you enjoyed the experience Priceless :D

They may not care at all.

You just need to realize that LEGALLY you are profiting off their trademark/etc.

If they decide they want the domain/damages/whatever, they don't need to pay you a dime. They may or they may not.

If you are okay with that, then develop away.

I am not asking them to pay me, and if it came down to it I would give it to them without a fight. And for revenue, I hadent really planned on profiting from it, just a fun project. Would it be worth it to try and contact FOX relating the matter, or a lost cause?

Contact FOX for sure if you want to use any images you DO NOT have permission to use.

I do have a fansite about the lovely P!NK Already :D Isn't she gorgeous?

You don't want to play around with fox.

Just go search for "foxed" at wikipedia. They like to fight... and they win
