Alot of hits, but no $$

I have a website, http://www.viennaforums.net. I truly started it 2 months ago. And I have alot of hits already (in my opinion). Look at the graph:

But my Adsense profits are under $5 :( The website is about Vista's successor, "Vienna". Also includes some Downloads, and News. Shouldn't the keywords be worth a bit more? Or is problem that people are not clicking ads?

    Thanks for the help!

Is that $5/day, or $5 for the whole month? Because if it's $5/day, that's impressive for a site doing only 17 uniques a day. But if it's $5 for the whole month, than yes, $5 is rather lousy.

BTW, a word of warning to a newcomer. Your site consists of a lot of copy/paste articles from other, bigger sites. Do you write any of the articles yourself? (I can't tell, but it doesn't appear so.) You are allowed to EXCERPT those articles (a paragraph at the most), but NOT to simply copy/paste the entire thing and dump it on your site. Even leaving a link back to the original site will get you in trouble for copying the entire article. Webmasters who run personal blogs and whatnot won't mind, but when you're doing copy/paste jobs on ZDNet, you're asking for trouble. Not everyone is like Wikipedia, which allows you to copy/paste everything if you provide a link back. Be careful there, chief.

I don't remember how many clicks I had. Didn't check yet.

Thanks for the advise jackburton2006!! :) I should be more cautious. And it's 5$ this whole month, thats horrible.

@SEOJoe- I do use Ad Link Units. Not Banner Ads.

First of all, don't confuse hits with visitors. One visitor can created lots of hits because of the number of files and stuff. $5 for 538 unique odd vsitors isn't too bad.

The visitor count doesn't really matter. On my sites only about 35% of them have javascript enabled. That means that 65% doen't even render the ads.

Focus on getting ad impressions up and your ctr rate up. Your earnings per click are also important. That can be improved by focusing your content towards higher priced ads.

It'd be interesting to see how many people have js enabled on these forums.

What is the subject of your site? One time I had something dugg, and that accounted for basically all of my visitors and 99.8 percent had javascript.

Both sites that I'm currently tracking for have free ringtones. I just started enforcing javascript on my dmoz mirror so we'll see if it goes up.

I would concentrate on getting more traffic. Doing website promotion or, if you can afford it, advertise on similarly themed sites to drive traffic over. How long has your site been up? If you only have traffic for December, I'm guessing one month? It takes a while for traffic to pick up. The best way to get the search engines' attention is to write original content. That way, other sites will willingly link to you for free because you offer content that their visitors might like. There is really no secret to making money with Adsense:

Proper SEO + Good Content + Patience = Traffic.

Once you get the traffic, you'll convert. Since you write about Windows, I'm assuming you know about SEO, so the next phase would be to work on putting original content on your site and just waiting out the SE's. You can continue to excerpt articles from big sites, just put YOUR spin on it, to make the article/story "yours". Then link back to the original sites if you excerpt their articles or gets your info from it; proper credit is important to avoid legal hassles.

This is so weird - and somewhat related to the problems the OP is having. Yesterday was my biggest AdSense day so far ($7.xx). Today has been my worst ($0.33)!!! What's going on???

Thanks for more info JackBurton2006. Will help me alot. Today we just hit 200 Members! :) Kind of a milestone to me. I have used some free SEO tools. Doesn't seem to have helped much though. And I am having two contest at my site. It is something that people would want. I think that is what has giving me my main traffic, including Affiliates. I don't have time to write my own articles unfortunately, but I might try to paste part of the article. And add my spin
