H1 = Title tag

    Hey all...

I am interesting to know if it's good or bad to have automatically H1 tag exactly as and Title.

What do you think? It's better to mix a bit or to have them the same ?

I found out that when I am going over my site's web pages I almost choose the same H1 and Title.

    Guy.

Should help especially if it contains your keywords.

yup, the more powerful keywords in your h1 title = the more chances for you to get visible in SEPR, but not in all cases,

I have been penalised before now for having the same text in H1, title and description, but I'm not sure about just H1 and title.

I always make them slightly different when possible to avoid the risk

I generally include my brand name / site name after the title so it would be more like

<title>How beer is made - Official Beer Site</title>
    <h1>How beer is made</h1>

Isn't it take the weight from the "hot beer is made" when you put your brand name ?

Maybe, however I most of the major SEOs do this. Some reverse so that the brand is first.

One good example of a high ranking site that uses this is wikipedia

It is not advisable to use both title and H1 same. But H1 tag should contain targeted keyphrases of that particular page. H1 tag plays very important role in Search Engine Optimisation

It will not hurt not I do not recommend this ;)

Title is like.. a book's title. Whereas headers are like topics. Unless you have only one topic to talk about on a page or I would not recommend it. A book with one topic is not very informative to most of the readers as a peek at the Table of Content would not show the content breakdown.. this is the same case when the bots visit our sites :)

    A good example would be:

    <title>Blackhat SEO Techniques</title>

      <h1>Keywords Stuffing</h1>
      ...
        <h2>Stuffing Keywords in META tags</h2>
        ...
<h2>Creating Hidden DIV with massive keywords</h2>
       ...

    Code (markup):

I think both should be relevant to the document, irrespective of they being the same or different, just make good use of them.

In the title tags, make sure you have the most important keywords which describe the page best to the searcher. Having an h1 element on the page shows your site information more prominently to people who are visiting the page.
