Both will look at it if you get pulled over again; however, with the courts you must settle it in New Hampshire

Yes but i mean will the courts abide by NH laws or Maine laws. i think the traffic rules/punishments are a little different.

okay i talked to a friend who knows a lawyer. lawyer said that without a lawyer i could easily get 6months to 1 year suspension of my license. with a lwayer with luck i could possibly get it down to 1-3months susp. the fine i know will be there, i dont care about the fine, ive got money.

    should i get a lwayer?

No. It's better for the environment if you stay out of your car for 12 months.

Dude - you were 30+ over speed limit. That is deemed reckless. Go with a lawyer who is famous in that particular court fighting tickets. Do good research - how do you find out about the lawyer? Go to the court before your date and speak to the Sheriff that is present IN the court room. They would know who is good.

Regarding calibration crap about your speedometer - do you know anyone who can give you a fake receipt stating they fixed your speedometer calibration? Also when the cop stopped you - did you ask him/her to show the clock? Or did you walk out to see the clock? You fight your own only if your car is going downhill and about 10-15 over and you get stopped for speeding. But anything over that - it is obvious you were speeding deliberately so you got to fight it strategically - not just go in and use your wise brain - lawyers are there for purpose...

Sounds like advice from someone who has lots of tickets - naaa - i just went to the court room a couple of weeks back to fight 21 over limit.

Oh and cop not showing up at a court - forget it - they will be there for such a big ticket. You will know for sure that the cop is there so if you chose to "No Contest" you better know your sh*t (Do your homework well) otherwise be prepared to lose your license for some time.

Guilty and No Contest fall in same category - pay fine and take a walk (insurance goes up)

No Guilty - you get trial and then cop has to prove that you were indeed speeding. I guess lot of people already wrote about fighting ticket.

In my case I selected No Contest and paid fine (paying high insurance as well) as I knew it would be very difficult to fight it (again its my own personal view). I guess cop gets some special allowance to show up at court - so most of them must be coming there. I have no experience in fighting ticket though.

Ahh: Just remembered I think 100+ is considered as reckless driving or close to it - Cop told me if I get another ticket same day I will be arrested (generally it happens on 3rd ticket - so he counted mine as two or something)

Homework for No Contest?? What is it?

101 in a 65 - No Contest means - not necessarily you agree or disagree with the charge which is 101 in a 65. If you were 10 over 65 - judge would understand Non Contest, if you were 15 over 65 going steep grade downhill - judge would understand, but 101 in a 65 on flat surface and calling for 'No Contest' - judge would slam you right away. Homework is what to speak and how to speak. If you represent yourself (without attorney), do not expect the judge to communicate to you in layman language. There will be sh*t load of legal terms used for explanation (which can put you in more trouble) you failed to understand the judge it is your fault - not judges. So in order to understand the judge (do your homework).

Did that make sense or did I go overboard and offered too much info? :p

I am not sure if you are talking this out of experience? Have you ever pleaded No Contest for traffic?

I saw this speeding ticket thread and thought I'd reply because a few days ago I got the last ticket off of my record. I'm 47 and have had at least one ticket on my record every year since I began driving at 16. I just jinxed myself. I'll probably get one tomorrow!

Next time I hope you get a blowout.

This thread was dead since July/06. Velocity brought it back to life on 31st and I guess everyone is just trying to suggest/help him out.

Ouch, now calm down and relax. In San Diego, specifically Interstate 15 going through Riverside, the speeds will average 95-100mph, at times. 100mph isn't tooooo bad.

That will never happen in NE. North East has road system built in stone age - hasn't change much ;)

I have been to court just once that was couple of weeks ago. I pleaded guilty - but I saw lots of people pleading No Contest and they had to wait for trial - I waited after my case and saw some of those trials - hilarious. People without lawyers were totally flabbergasted with the language used by the judge - the defendants were completely clueless and helpless eventually losing the case.
