I've been actively moving all my .ca domains to Baremetal and all my other domains to GoDaddy. I know godaddy isn't perfect and isn't the cheapest, but I can't imagine them causing me the same nightmare as Registerfly.

Once all this stuff is over I'll write up the details, but here's the quick version: had problems renewing a domain several weeks before expiry, submitted multiple tickets which were closed with 'wait 24 hours'. Once the domain expired it was another story and I was told to contact the risk department, etc etc. It's been six weeks and I still have yet to get a ticket response that provides any details about what the actual problem is/was.

I'm a fairly well written guy, patient, understanding, etc - so it's not like I'm some shmuck who wasn't providing them with the details they would have needed to help me.

I've been with Registerfly sinse December of 2003 and had no problems. Never over charged. Infact the Auto Renew is the only thing that doesn't work. But Customer service was very helpful and gave me a full credit for the domain I reneweed sinse it didn't appear it was renewing manually either. It finally did. But they gave me a full credit anyway. So they're nice.

Nothing major with them ever and live chat or tele they've always been there to help. I have 6 names with them right now. Oh, and also 1gb free space to host whatever add free. Not bad. I like them.

I've got 160 names with them so I'm dealing with them on a fairly regular basis. In general support has been reasonable, with some minor exceptions where I had to submit a ticket a second time.

It's only recently that their support and service has totally gone to hell as far as I'm concerned, but it's so completely bad with no sign of it getting better that it's time for me to bail.

Here's a thread on DIGG discussing this issue, with links to a variety of people having similar problems.

I had similar problems with Registerfly. Domains expiring, can't transfer, long customer service hold times and unanswered email. I'll be contacting Mr Crow to join in on the class action suit.

Also, we all might consider writting a letter to Icann who will hopefully do the right thing and revoke their accredidation status.

Isn't it possible to bring this issue to ICANN.

If RegisterFly is ICANN accredited, then they could be in trouble.

If not, then ICANN can advise Enom and other accredited registrars not to affiliate with Registerfly until they can get their stuff straight.

Here's one I used to use a long time ago, which have some of the lowest rates in the industry.

    aitdomains.com

And there ICANN accredited, so there's no chance of messups.

    mjewel -

Thanks so much for your insight. One quick question - which type of account at eNom do I need to wrest my domain from RegisterFly?

    Much appreciated!!!

FYI - RegisterFly is ICANN accredited also. How does that stop mess ups?

PS - I figured out which account to get at eNom - had to dig a little!

This is why I only use GoDaddy. May not be the least expensive, but then again, you get what you pay for.

True, but you hear horror stories about all registrars. I also have about 80% of my domains at GoDaddy and this experience has actually made me think about spreading those domains out to other registrars.

It is funny you mention GoDaddy, because when I was having the problems with RegisterFly everyone I spoke to about it assumed it was GoDaddy because of a bad experience. So far I am happy with GoDaddy!

AGREED! REGISTERFLY is a Bad risk!!

I have a similar problem with Registerfly.
    My domain name is ticketsbay.com
They did not renew it although I paid them.
I simply had no idea who to complain to. Also, I suspect they are the ones who hacked my Paypal and drained my checking account about 10 months ago. Stay away from Registerfly is also my advice.
Can you PM the process to get my domains renewed and transferred to godaddy?

Do a whois on the domains - see if they are registered with eNom. If so, contact eNom as suggested in this thread. It will cost you $30 a domain to renew each domain, but is worth it if you have invested in those domains.
