SEO Contests are lame....in fact anyone who partakes is certainly not an SEO

    Here's why

An competent SEO ranks websites for real words.

An even more competent SEO ranks websites for high competition keywords.

And an SEO who is worth the $1,000.00s per month many seek to earn.... ranks those high competition keywords for multiple months, and some for years :D

The SEO contest I hold is one where I wait for a site to try and move my clients or my own sites.....now thats a contest......

SEO's do not join SEO contests - since their own sites are winning.

    Still waiting for contestants :D

Hmm sounds like the words of an SEO Contest organizer. ;)

Well I imagine there is some prestige in winning an SEO contest...

But there seems to be more prestige in ranking for high competition keywords for multiple years as well.

Or ranking for high competition keywords for multiple years in multiple industries.

Doing so often enough will allow one to have the prestige of owning something like the Maybach :D

    http://www.maybachusa.com/

    Now thats prestige,

Happy new year to all of you

If you are a SEO and know how to rank for high competition keywords like "Online Casino", "buy car" etc etc. You don´t even need to work as a SEO.
My guess would be that only about 1% of all SEO companys have these kind of resources. So Yes! There is more prestigue in ranking for a highly competitive keyword. BUt! If you are on your way of doing that you have to battle against older domains with like 1 million backlinks! Most likely you won´t have a chance unless you really know what you are doing and have the endurance to do so for many many years. Most sites that ranks high for difficult keywords are both old and also have so good content that their sites work as powerful link magnets. Often these sites also are runned by companies with large budgets and have the ability to advertise just about anywhere. So! Now you understand that you can not compare a SEO contest to ranking for a highly competitve keyword.
SEO contests will be more popular in a few years from now and the more popular they become the better will the prizes be.
To win a car as you can do in the SEO World Championship is not bad at all, and now for the first time we are begining to see the potential in SEO contests.

i think the best seos will never participate in a contest. unless the prize is $1 000 000, why would they show everybody their secrets, tricks strategies .?
i dont think that any seo guru will even think about participating

The big players are problably not entering SEO contests. They have to much to loose. Imagine if a really big SEO company joined a contest and then placed at #17..... It would not really look good. They simply don´t have either the balls or the time to compete.

personally the most precious knowledge that i learned is from analyzing Websites of seo gurus and some BH websites i discovered tons of little tricks that dont exist in forums or books and i considere myself to be new to all this seo thing.

competing in a seo contest is really a big risk, because once u rank 1 its pretty easy for other seos to see what did u do to get that first position

and it may be a question of time too, good seos are too busy making money to enter a contest :)

It all comes down to finding the right people at the right price. Nothing secret or elusive about it any more.

SEO competitions are nothing more than testament to how much spare time you have :D

    Cheers,

    JL
