It is predicted that by i think fall of 07 they will all be registered (cant find the site I read it on . . .I tried sorry). Anyway, it mentioned that pronouncable 4 letter .coms are pretty much all taken. Nowadays most domains are stuf like qgjf.com fvrt.com etc. How valuable will these things be once all 4 letter domain names are taken? I've seen many auctions at SP where people aren't even biting at these domains. So is there value overinflated or is it that once all the 4 letter domains are taken the value for these things will shoot up? Skinny
I have posted a couple of times asking how people use their three character names and not gotten any really significant answers. The best use I have found for them is to help keep my print ads short. That's not a function which is likely to be worth millions I think it's much like "Hot Lots" in the real estate business. I can show you where to buy one acre lots in New Mexico at the tax auction, which were sold for serious money to out of state buyers 30+ years ago They may not be making any more (land/domians) but that doesn't always matter.
I have been folowing domain names trends for a while. I can easily see the extraordinary value of 4 letter domains. We had this same debate years ago with 3 letter domains, now 3 letter domains are worth thousands and thousands, regardless of what the 3 characters are! This will be the same for 4 letter domains, it will take a bit longer....but its coming. It has to be a .com though. I'm surprised a rich person has not come along yet and captured all the remaining 4 letter .coms! This is prime, prime web real estate!
Yup I only buy .coms and buy anything .net or .org if the .com is really good. Cool. I'd like to hear more. See I wasn't around for the whole three letter domains (way too young) so I kinda was looking for other opinions. Keep it coming. Skinny
Here is a good article written in March 06, it says there are 456,976 possible 4 letter combinations and only 97,786 left. And...over 500,000 domains are registered each day. http://www.yafla.com/dforbes/2006/03/29.html http://www.domaintools.com/internet-statistics/
If I remember correctly, the number was around 40-60k for unregistered llll.com's. I bet all pronounable ones will be snatched up, but the random "qpxz" wont all be registered in 07.
I just registered the last 4 letter .coms beginning with letter A IMHO, holding onto 4 letter .coms will be a good investment. They will follow the path of 3 letter .coms in the future when every possible combination are taken. The risk is small (only a few bucks per year) but the return can be huge!
I have seen some sell for as high as 10 - 25k, but that happens mainly if a really successful company with those 4 letters as an abbreviation of their name wants it bad enough.
Yes, there are premium 4 letter .com's. Hell, girl, dick (sorry), etc etc that will fetch > $500,000.
hehe didn't even think about those. But 4 letter ones like GRCB.com If there is a lawfirm called Greenbaum, Rosenburg, Cobbler and Brown and they want it bad enough, you might get a great deal going.
yea..and there the 80% that doesn't worth reg fee..just look at the BST domain forum...tons of seller but no buyer a uesless lll.com is useless IMO..even all llll.com are registered.. that's a big "IF" dude
I know someone who registers nothing but four letters, owns about 4,000. He has sold about 80, all in the range of 3-8k I believe. One was also sold for 15k. It's a gamble. All of the buyers contacted him btw, he uses the domains for type in traffic. If the buyer contacts you, then you're in better shape than if you are the one starting a thread on namepros
That is a crazy amount of cash . .. (4000 * 8) = 32 000. haha you still got a long way to go: http://www.avuw.com/coms/alll.asp Skinny
That list is outdated. I just randomly checked 10 of the domain names on that list and none of them were available.
At the speed the 4 letter .coms are being taken it will not last 6 months from now. And once it has all been taken the buyers will move on to the after market for expiring names. At that time the value will rise significantly. If you are still interested in getting some then I have made a list. Here: http://www.nameslot.com/Nameslot-List-Service-f-16.html All available 4 letter.coms list to choose from.
