very cool idea..but that digg is a disaster..

it is a good digg story..but your title and description kills it...

I didnt write that digg story. The day before I made it to the first page on digg and my server crashed. So digg took off my article. I had to link to someone else`s digg story about it...

great idea. I think i have heard it somewhere from a friend which goes like this:
"an old man try to sell a balloon which is usually not very successful. One day he decides to put up different colour of the baloon up right so that children can see. as of this strategy, many kids around the blog find it very attractive and buy the baloon from it."

Indeed you have made a great marketing strategy. Well done, mate.

Yes. I can supply USB cables. I have seen them in black, white, light gray, and clear from a few of my suppliers. But I may be able to come up with other colors if there is enough demand.

It must have taken you lots of time to repaint it so nicely...Taking off the parts and assemble it again.

Anyway, it is one of the hottest marketing ideas I have ever heard.

    Good Job

I'm sure lots of people thought of this idea too but congratulations for actually doing it ;)

Wouldn't worry about the warranty since you can afford a new one out of the profit you make.

Funny how colors can make a huge difference. A minor change of painting made it so popular? Amazing ;)

Good luck with your sale and let us know how it turns out.

This reminds me of when the original iMacs came out in Blueberry, Grape, Tangerine etc. sparking a revolution in the expectations about color for computer equipment. Not only did that strategy help sell to women, but it also made Apple stand out among the beige crowd back then.

Good job! Forget about the 1400 bucks - that's great - but what matters here is you have eyeballs on your site - I hope you have a strategy to turn them into repeat visits and garner a longer-term income!

    Very nice job!

I'm assuming you powdercoated it piece by piece?
