Suggestions Needed for Directory

    Happy Holidays Everyone :)

    I have a directory at AffiliateChick.

    Moving into the New Year, I was hoping to increase traffic and popularity in it's market a bit more. The one thing I haven't done is really pushed paid submissions or recips.

    I had requested product reviews from people but that didn't work out to well. Instead, I'm going to replace the product reviews with articles, etc.

    Would you take a look at the directory and give me some suggestions?

    Should I update the banner, revamp submission guidelines, etc? Any ideas.

    Firstly i'd say that the 'Advertise Here - Human edited web directory of Internet Marketing Tools.' at the bottom of the page is a bad idea at the moment. It makes it look as though your site isnt popular and that no one wants to advertise on your site which obviously gives your site a bad image for starters.

    Secondly i'd look at building up the sub categories - you've only got 6 categories with sub categories - this makes it look as though your site isnt complete. Perhaps look at reducing the number of top level categories to make areas more specific - then add more sub categories (as you have done with the Design category) to provide more choice.

    Finally your site doesn't really stand out from the crowd - sure the banner is great, it would just be good to see the entire directory design done in the same style as apposed to having just changed the colors of the predefined template.

    If you could get those sort after product reviews that would be great - even perhaps keep them seperate and set up a sub domain for a blog to contain your reviews - you can then promote your blog etc through RSS to attract more traffic!

    That's the biggest thing I noticed, It seems like you didn't finish editing a template or something and simple left the dummy text in there.

    I stopped editing it to work on another project...too many irons in the fire:rolleyes:

    I'm going to work on a new template for the site. SS has an update so it would seem an appropriate time to do so again.

    Oh... I love the blog idea.
