I think this will be forfeited because the reckoning point of godaddy in so far as the start of your contract is the day it is transferred to godaddy.

GoDaddy honnors the remaining time of your domain at your current registrar so if you transfer your domain to Godaddy and renew it for 1 year, then the remaining time until your domain expire will be 1 year + whatever is left at your current registrar.

Your domain will be transfered from ipower to GoDaddy after you made the request. Lets say your domain expires on March 1st 2007. When you transfer your domain to GoDaddy and say you pay for 1 years renewal, your domain is suppose to expire 1 year from today (December 30th 2007). But since GoDaddy honnors the remaining time of your domain at your current registrar, your domain will not expire until March 1st 2008. So basically, GoDaddy will give you "free time" on your domain.

Yes I'm sure. I've transferred a domain name from eNom to GoDaddy and they honnored the time left on my domain. If you want to make sure, read this.

"Free one year extension included. Plus all the time remaining on your existing registration"

Because your domain is registered with ICANN or whomever. All registars are just resellers for the issuing authority. The rent collector.

Com, net and org all come from the same place. There is only one source, ICANN.

The resellers are "acredited" resellers on in the case of smaller resellers they buy the domains through an "acredited" reseller.

When you deal with a third party reseller the process takes a little longer but still works the same. Sometimes this is an intentional delay and sometimes it is just the way it is.

The information you have been given in this thread is accurate. You should lose no time remaining on you registeration. You should be free to transfer it anywhere you like if it is at least 60 days old and you pay for at least one additional year.
