site blocked by google?

I have a site (i'll keep the name private atm), and It ranked top for some nice keywords of the related topic. Now today I searched and my site does not show up. It is not indexed. Is google updating results? Has my site been blocked/banned? Any way to tell?

Yes first of all submit google sitemap and please tell us how old your website is? Because there may be the chance of sandbox.

without seeing the site all we can do is speculate. Your site may be banned, because of bad SEO. It may be new - sandboxed. If you searched for your URL specifically, and it didn't show - then it's indeed banned. Fix your site. Clean up all bad practices. Then get into google sitemaps and ask for reinclusion.

New sites on topics that are already well represented online may experience something that looks like a sandbox. That's an almost direct Matt Cutts quote. The sandbox is not a myth, though it's also not a word googlers use within google.

    Not indexed at all?
If that's the case, I don't think it's in sandbox. It probably is penalised/banned entirely...
But I suggest you wait for about 2-3 days before going into a state of panic... ;)

I have been noticing an indexing update for about a week now, and that might be the case for you as well.
Out of 13K pages of my site, only 3K were left in google. Today it shows 12K.
A possible index update of some kind.
    Bye :)

Good news, it isn't banned after searching site:myurl.com. Can someone explain what the sandbox is? The search term came from my domain mostly (and title).

“The Google Sandbox” is just a way of saying that a new site will have bit of trouble ranking for competitive keywords quickly - even if it builds ‘the necessary’ links.

It happens in certain keywords....I have been doing SEO for a number of years now and I noticed this whenever I bought a new domain.

Thanks, to my extreme surprise it has been ranked right back where it started. Any clue why such a short downtime?

I would NOT submit a sitemap. Last time I did that my site got all screwed up. Pages that were indexed disappeared and new pages got really bad ranking.
There is NO need to submit sitemaps. If there was, then everybody had to submit sitemaps, and how big would Amazon.com's sitemap be? 5 GIG or what?
If you ask me, sitemaps are crap!
