Please Review My Site - Trouble Getting Traffic

    Hello All,

My site (http://www.rakebreakers.com) has been up and running for about six months now. I had technical issues between Google and my webhost for the first 3 months or so, and as a result I have been indexed for only the past 3 months.

Anyway, I'm generally satisfied with my results in Google for my main keywords/phrases. I was ranked #6 for my main keyword for a while, until I experimented with some changes that bumped me to Page 2. Regardless, my traffic has stayed about the same. I've averaged about 40 uniques per day for the past few months, but my goal is to achieve 500+ uniques per day.

Any suggestions to help me achieve this goal? How is my onsite SEO? Even if I make it back to Page 1 (Yesterday, I reversed the changes I suspect bumped me down to Page 2), I don't expect a huge jump in traffic. Is being on Page 1 just not enough? Can I expect a considerable traffic increase the closer I get to the #1 spot? Or should I be looking at other ways to generate traffic besides SERPs? If so, any suggestions?

It is my understanding that getting 500+ uniques shouldn't be too difficult, but I've been doing a lot of researching and can't find any answers besides expensive paid-advertising. Even then, I don't know how to get the most "bang for my buck". Personally, I never click on banner ads, AdSense ads, text link ads etc. In fact, the Sponsored Links on the right-hand side of Google results are almost invisible to me... I don't even notice them, because I know that those are paid ads and likely not as relevant as the actual search results. As a result, I assume most other people are the same way, so it's hard to dump money into advertising that i don't necessarily believe in, if that makes any sense at all.

So far, I've submitted to hundreds upon hundreds of directories, I've tried the Squidoo thing and the StumbleUpon thing, but my traffic remains stagnant. Unfortunately, most poker-related internet forums do not allow signatures, otherwise I would take advantage of that. I am an active member of the 2+2 poker forums, but I refuse to discredit my reputation by spamming my site in any way.

I need more traffic. I need targeted traffic. I will not pay for pop-ups/unders or any other shady traffic-generating programs. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking at here. I guessing this is primarily for poker afficionados, and they'll understand what rakebreakers are?

You need to have a reason for people to come to your forums. Are you an established expert in poker? Are established experts at your site? The answer to the second question appears to be No given the # of posts, if the answer to the first is Yes, then you need to do a better job of communicating your credibility.

Layout and SEO doesn't appear to be your problem, it's authority. Sorry I can't offer more specifics, I just don't know much about poker.

You dont understand because you dont play poker. For every hand you play the casino takes back a portion (eg 2%). This is called the rake. Some online casinos give some of the rake back. His webpage shows all of the casinos and how much rake they give back. It is very handy for a poker player. I bookmarked it for later.

everything else looks good. I would reccomend to get someone to design a new layout for your site. It would cost about $100 but it is worth it. One thing: I play at Pacific Poker. Do they have rakeback deals?

Rakebreakers is just the name of the site, but it's goal is to provide a one stop shop (or shopping mall, so to speak) for rakeback offers. And yes, poker enthusiasts know what rakeback is.

I'm not worried about forum traffic at the moment. The forum is there if visitors have additional questions, but the main content is, and always will be, on the main rakeback affiliate pages.

I have been playing for quite a while, and play for a living, but I'm no expert lol.

To clarify, RakeBreakers is not a poker strategy site, but a source of information regarding poker rakeback. The forums main purpose will be to ask additional questions not already answered in the main content, request if additional rakeback offers might be available, and to discuss affiliate conduct. That said, I would say that I am very knowledgeable when it comes to rakeback.

That's cool, thanks for your time :)

    Good to know... Thanks!

Yeah, this is only my second website, and I used Dreamweaver for the first time, so it was quite a learning experience. I have made many changes over the past six months based upon suggestions from affiliates, but what do you suggest? This format is rather standard for a rakeback directory, and I need room for all of the testimonials.

Pacific was allowing rakeback for a while, but dicontinued it. Some affiliates offered monthly "snowball" free roll tournaments in which 25% of the rake generated by the players for the month was put into the prize pool. Unfortunately, it looks like a lot of affiliates discontinued these tournaments after Pacific pulled out of the U.S. market. Currently, the only affiliate I am aware of who offers such a snowball tournament is SwollYourRoll. See here:

Keep in mind though, that if you already have an account with Pacific, it may be difficult if not impossible to get a new one set up for "rakeback"; however, although I've never played on Pacific, I'm sure there are much better options out there. Have you tried Absolute, Full Tilt or UltimateBet? Personally, I play on Absolute... The weekly bonuses are insane (usually $500+ per week), and the rakeback cap is moving from 28% to 30% in January.

    I hope this helps.

As a poker player, I see no sites that I would play at on there. Offer higher quality sites. I think ipoker still offers rakeback. if not I would add them to my list of bonus offers. Tita, Noble and theres a bunch more. Party poker also and ofcourse Poker stars. these are high quality names that will attract interest.

In my opinion I would move the Rakeback Offers section higher up the page as there is a lot of text to read through straight away that can put users off before they get down to the actual offers. Just my 2 cents ;)
