Don't Underestimate the Importance of Making a Backup!

Just wanted to remind everyone to always have a backup of your blog. I just finished reinstalling a new version of my search engine marketing blog. I finally had to delete my original blog because the MySQL database completely busted (I'm pretty sure this resulted from an insane amount of spam comments). Moral of the story, I was lazy and didn't back it up, so as a result, I lost six months worth of blog posts and had to redo my homepage and 404 to compensate for misguided traffic.

    Don't get lazy...ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP

Well I have WP-Cron installed so it created a backup of my blog every single day and send it to me via email. So I feel a bit safe there :D

Yes indeed. In a software upgrade, technical problems occurred, and my entire site was corrupted beyong repair. Thankfully, I had a complete backup on my flash drive and was able to reinstall the working one.

I've learned my lesson. Awhile ago, I had a forum. I was doing an upgrade, and long story short, I lost everything.

    Yes, definitely back up!

That is a good resolution for the new year. BACK UP MY SITES.

I know I am horrible about it, and it could be costly. Thanks for the reminder. I think that will be week 1 project in the new year.

You guys are completely right. I've lost 500 articles worth before but thankfully, my readers stayed loyal and I remain at over 1,000 uniques per day.

    Ditto AutoRave, is that sufficient?

I had this also once, lost a complete website.
Therefore I have a daily cron job that backs up my SQL databases.
