And how would our export industry die If INR gets stronger against dollar..
I dont see UK's export industry dieing (Since GBP is much stronger than USD..) or Nepal's Export industry getting stronger(Since Nepal's Currency is weaker than INR)
Its two way street, thats right.

If INR gets strong, but you insist to sale the suffs at the current price (Lets say rice for 20 Rs/KG). No one will buy from you. but if you sell stuffs at the balanced rate like 1 Rs/Kg why wouldnt people buy from you?
Simple Maths, INR gets strong against USD means the RBI has more gold to pay. That means even with less money in your hands, you are richer than now.
Its as simple as that..

 

I feel you've mixed up your economics. Comparing Rupee with Dollar and GBP with Dollar is a totally different ballgame. The British Pound has a much higher purchasing power than the US Dollar...their currency system is made that way - what with Shillings, Pences and Pounds running in the economy of the UK

 

Saying, Indian export industry will die if INR gets stronger against USD makes no sense.

There are two things..
1) Doller gets weaker against INR - Suppose US's economics crashes and dollar get weaker. in that case. the value of dollar will deprive and you will get more dollars for your work. Like you make a site for US client for $200. the same site you make for Indian client for 10000 INR. so if dollar gets weaker then you will be getting $10000 for the same work.

2) INR gets stronger against USD - India's economy grows like its growing right now, your purchasing power will increase, then you will be able to sell the stuff on less, hence balancing the global price.

If you are still not getting it, I really cant help..

If you are charging 10,000 dollars for a site who would come to you for designing?

A chinese may charge as little as $150 and get it?

I think you need a good economics book to understand the economic policies

If dollar gets weaker, it will go down against every other exsiting currency, including China's too.
So They wont be carging just $150 for theat because the value of dollar will deprive agaisnt their own currency thus they will charge according to that only..

What you need to understand is that there is difference between greed and cost.
You have to remember there is something known as competition.
And most of all if 1 INR ever becomes 1 USD, going by your thought process we would be still paying 100 INR for a haircut, speaking in dollars at the moment its 2 dollars.
Using logic, the worth of a haircut would remain the same, only thing you will then pay 2 INR instead of 100. Simple logic.
Apart from that, if you have 10 lakhs in assets, many indians have much more, then you would instantly become a millionaire. People with a Crore will have 10 million and hey you will become richer.
Its confusing typin this out, but people who gotta comprehend will.
No offense, but you need to stop thinking about quantity and start thinking about quality.

I think it is quite simple to understand. If the market price of a shirt is Rs. 450/- now it should cost roughly $10 at current exchange rate.. But if the rupee appreciates against the Greenbuck 10%, then that same shirt will cost roughly $11. So other countries will find Indian shirt more costlier than before and find other cheaper source. Indians could not sell their products as they are selling at current rate.

However, I was watching the Amazing Race on television and one of their destinations was India, and boy, is the traffic pattern bad over there.

With a Prime Minister like Manmohan Singh and a weak congress Government We cannot do much?

 

Leadership is not the issue here.

The fact is unless we are militarily and economically stronger than China, it will not be interested in our demands...it doesn't need to.

When the US government can't bend the Chinese on certain issues, how India, being the weaker neighbour ever think of China listening to it.

We have only one option here - grow ourselves stronger than the Chinese...and this is exactly where we are failing.

 

omg! of course man of course! I'm not Indian, I'm from Georgia, but India is best... I've friend from bombay and I visited him this summer, it was awesome! You people know food, ur spices!!!! I adore indian food and spices!!! And of course smoking, I've never seen an indian who doesn't smoke ganja - that's awesome dude!

and I've been to one village in the mountains, it was a strange city u couldn't touch other people's stuff... and we smoked shit out of ourselves that was fun!!

hope to get there next year too
