Except the good ones that protest and speak out against all the evil that has been acted out in the name of Islam such as these links below:

Yes I have read the passage in the Qur'an about that, but this is no different than passages in the Bible along the same lines that require the execution of those who openly practice idolatry (which gets to the question who defines what idolatry is). Yes you say that the Old Testament isn't relevant because it was replaced by the New Testament and on a religious ground I might agree with you. The problem is that this is not universally accepted and there is a growing movement of Christians who believe that the Old Testament is law that can not be overlooked. A case in point is http://www.reformed.com/pub/polytheism.htm

Christianity and Islam have the same problem. Things are in the Bible and the Qur'an that might have made sense 1,500 years ago in a different time and place, but they make no sense today. Most Muslims and Christians would be happy to overlook or ignore the inconvenient and/or obsolete passages as historical relics, unfortunately there are fundamentalist factions in both religions that cling to these relics as justification for their intolerant positions.

All religions must be on the guard against the extremist edges, for it is these edges that are constantly working to subvert the religion as a whole. If we reach across the religious divide in friendship to the moderates we can work together to keep the extreme edges of all religions in check.

If we spread fear and hatred on the other hand we harden attitudes and make it much easier for the extremists of all religions to subvert their respective religions which will only lead to more bloodshed and persecution.

It's a shame that you haven't had the opportunity to live, work with, and get to know more child molesters. I'm certain that if you had first hand experience living and working with child molesters you would quickly realize how false the negative stereotypes of child molesters are.

I live, work with, and know quite a few Muslims from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. That doesn't make Islam any better. It doesn't bring back the twin towers. It doesn't bring back the murdered Israeli athletes. It doesn't bring back Robert Stethem. It doesn't bring back Leon Klinghoffer. The fact that I personally may have some experience with a few Muslims who fail to practice Islam to the letter of the law is completely irrelevant to the point. I am sure that there were some very nice people in the Nazi party. However, due to it's overwhelming evil, we had to destroy the Nazi party -- along with many of those nice people. Unfortunately, the same will have to happen to many of those nice people who currently ally themselves with the murdering Islamists.

Apparently klb believes being aware is spreading hate. For example, the quran instructs muslims not to befriend Christians and Jews (which is actually some of the nicer things it says about Christians and Jews). That is the actual hatred that is preached. But to klb, this should in fact be the tolerated, while being aware of such (in some backwards thinking way) is the hatred.

    It's like battered wife syndrome.

That was uncalled for and completely irrelevant. It adds nothing to the discussion nor is this comparable.

Are there terrorists who are Muslims? Yes. Are there terrorists who are Christians? Yes (Abortion clinic bombings).

The Palestinian terrorist acts have nothing to do with religion and have everything to do with geopolitics. Just like the Timothy McVeigh bombing in Oklahoma City those are terrorist acts committed for political reasons.

There are 1.3 billion Muslims in this world, in the last forty years how many terrorist acts have been committed by peoples of Muslim background? What was the country of origin for the terrorists? How many terrorist acts committed against American soil or assets? How many different terrorist organizations have committed those acts? How many of the terrorist acts committed against American assets can be tied back to a single terrorist leader?

You are condemning all of the Muslim world for the acts of a very tiny fraction of the population. This is no different than condemning all New Yorkers as murderers because around 900 people were murdered in New York last year. Or it is like saying that all Catholic priests are pedophiles because a few priests were convicted of abusing children.

Convicting or judging an entire population based on the acts of a few is unjust and exceedingly narrow minded. All it shows is that your fear and hatred of Muslims is based on ignorance.

What percentage of terrorist acts across the globe are comitted by Muslims?

    Hmmm...

Sure, there are a few Sikh terrorists and a few Catholic terrorists, but they seem to be aberrations.

With Islam, terrorism seems to be S.O.P.

Nor is comparing a handful of abortion clinic bombings in the 90s to the acts of terrorism in the name of islam.

With ties to islam. It would seem the usual apologist move of citing OKC as moral equivalence is losing it's edge. There is conclusive proof of ties to islamic terrorists.

Why must the number be 40 years? How about since 9/11? The numbers are so staggering, there is simply no way to dismiss them. Of course, if one were to stop for a moment, in defending terrorists (would the same person defend acts of terrorism by others, or fully chastise them?) and open their eyes, they could no longer (if honesty and truth mattered to them, and for some it simply doesn't) sweep them under the rug.

The Religion of Peace keeps track of some of these statistics. This site isn't for apologists though. No sugar coating and no hiding of the truth. No deception. Scroll down to ATTACKS to see the list.

    Like these tiny fractions?

    Just a tiny minority

What are these platitudes called? Anyone familiar with the term kitman or taqiyya?

    What is kitman and taqiyya?
Simply amazing that there are terms that describe what some do here and they are probably not even familiar with them. Apologists, working on their kitman and taqiyya skills :D

You see this is the problem with you and GTech, in your mind you so tightly define the word terrorism that you only allow it to be used to describe the acts by Muslims in the Middle East and you ignore acts perpetrated elsewhere in the world.

The FBI defines terrorism as "the unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.
    www.theisraelproject.org/site/apps/nl/content2.asp

Throughout the twentieth century blacks were subjected to domestic terrorism here in the United States with their churches being burned civil rights leaders being murdered, klansmen burning crosses on their front yards, fire bombing their homes and lynchings being common throughout the south.

GTech would like to dismiss them, but abortion clinic bombings and the murder and assault of clinic workers IS a form of terrorism and it meets the definition of terrorism laid out by the FBI.

In our country and in other Western countries mosques are attacked, vandalized and shot at. Muslims are harassed and assaulted solely because of their religion with the objective of driving them out of the communities they live in.

For the past thirty plus years, throughout Central and South America death squads roamed either in support of or opposition to the government with the objective of forcing or preventing social or political change. Drug cartels in Latin American and the Mafia attacked and killed the families of judges lawyers and law enforcement officials or those officials themselves if they took actions against those groups.

In Ireland the IRA lead a long and very bloody terrorist campaign against Protestants and the British government.

In Japan a cult attacked a Japanese subway system with poison gas killing many innocent people and was preparing other terrorist acts when they were captured.

Many in and out of the Muslim world would argue that many of the acts committed by the Israeli government against the Palestinians are terrorist acts. At the vary least there have been numerous instances of of extremist Jewish settlers in the occupied territories committing terrorist acts including car bombings against Palestinians.

Terrorism is not the exclusive tool of any one religious or cultural group. It is deployed throughout the world by all kinds of groups for all kinds of reasons sometimes it is state sponsored but often times it is not. The problem is our eyes are so focused on the Middle East that we are completely oblivious to the acts of terrorism that take place in our own back yard or in any part of the world that is not Muslim in nature.

The other part of this issue that you and others so conveniently ignore is that the vast majority of Muslims, especially those who live in the U.S., are peaceful and just as appalled by acts of violence as any peace loving person. This is an inconvenient truth for you because this simple fact invalidates the rest of your claims about Muslims being violent and wanting to kill us all.

The moment we condemn an entire ethnic or religious group for acts of a minority is the moment we become no better than those who commit the terrorist acts to begin with. The preaching of hatred against another group provides fuel and justification in the minds of those who would commit acts of violence against that group.

9/11 should have been a wakeup call, not to be wary of Muslims, but to be vigilant against extremism, hatred and violence in all its forms. A black man should feel safe driving down a dark country road at night in all parts of the South, a Jew should feel safe openly practicing their religion in Russia or any country (including Muslim) and a Muslim woman should feel safe to wear her tradition dress in any town or city in America.

Yes the Middle East is a nightmare, but to blame it all on religion is to simplify the problem in a most inappropriate fashion. There are so many causes of the violence and strife in that part of the world and it is going to take a very long time and a lot of very hard work to resolve the issues that breed the violence. The first thing we must do is stop blaming religion and begin to look at the root causes and everyone whether Jewish, Muslim or Christian must begin to work together to end oppression in all its forms and work towards a peaceful coexistence. This includes speaking out against those who spread fear and hatred against others as is done in this forum.

So by what you are saying KLB, the school bullies are terrorists! (that is making it pretty simplified)

Sure the KKK would be considered terrorists at that time, pretty quite nowadays, mostly just one on one hatred. Get too general in the description and jesse jackson would fit because of his hatred and ways of coercion.

an idiot who bombs an abortion clinic may be a terrorist in some way, but the every murderer or violent person would be too.

---- A recognized description of a terrorist adds the fact they kill civilians as a normal way of war

The problem that KLB still doesn't get is that the Islamic terrorists are acting within the rules of the Koran. The Koran tells all believers to go kill unbelievers wherever they find them. It was a generic command to all Muslims for all time.

The KKK, abortion clinic bombers, etc are acting outside the rules of the Bible. All commands to kill people where given to the single point of authority: a king or a prophet, and applicable for a specific situation. The Bible is very clear that all people are equal in God's eyes.

I've been trying very hard to get a Muslim to show where in the Koran the actions of terrorists are condemned. All I get is commentary and excuses. It's a trivial task to show where in the Bible the KKK and abortion clinic doctors are shown to be in error.

The weird thing is, every time I start a thread trying to get Muslims to show that the Koran clearly condemns the foundation of terrorism (killing unbelievers) I find out more rediculous things like the idea that women are property and have half a brain and that Judas was crucified. The hole just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Actually, I do believe that KLB understands your points, but disagrees with them, and has even addressed them.

Please pardon the deletions. I felt that cutting down on the amount of texct quoted would be a good thing.

He has addressed them with commentary and interpretations. For every Muslim commentator that KLB quotes, there's a commentator that agrees with the foundational beliefs of terrorists. GTech has posted numerous stories of Islam in action. Little children perfectly fine with the murder of someone's mother. Who are we to believe? Some apologist or the people of the faith?

A Muslim was interviewed on Barbara Walters and claimed that the Koran teaches that Jews and Christians will go to heaven. This is clearly not what the Koran teaches.

The point: Muslim scholars lie. Scholars of a lot of religions lie. Even people who claim to believe the Bible lie.

I'm looking for straight scripture for the Koran. Even quotes from Mr M would be nice. I'd like to see a quote from Mr M recanting his position that women have half a brain.

The terrorists don't care what Joe Muslim says. They only care what the Koran says.

I asked a long time ago what crimes warrent the death penalty according to the Koran. The answer: those who aren't innocent.

Menj argued that those who reject Islam are not innocent. Therefore they deserve the death penalty. And that is the foundation of terrorism.

It is the Muslims' job to show that according to the Koran (scripture only):

    a) rejecting Islam does not make someone not innocent
    b) killing the non innocent is solely the job for those in authority
    c) who exactly has the authority to carry out punishments

That's what I'm waiting for. Pure scripture sans the commentary.

But...everything has a but with you.

Yes, it is different. Claiming that it isn't doesn't make it so. Your solution to everything is to equalize it with something else. Unless it's in regards to Christians and Jews.

Calling for definitions is a kitman strategy. Source in the New Testament a similiar passage.
