Just checked the source code of Myspacegeeks and they're using black hat SEO... How can I get them banned?
They are one of my main competitors for my myspace site - www.thefriendtrain.com, and they stole my design, so it makes a huge difference.
It appears that they really did rip your design all right! Except they have a pop-up ad and you don't btw, their blackhat seo is rubbish, heh! But enough to get them banned by Google should they become aware of it.
I reported their site to Google. Ya, they have a pop-up, and? Pop-ups are blocked in Firefox. Will their blackhat seo get banned by google, msn, and yahoo or?
It should do. All of the search engines are fairly specific about hidden text being 'against the rules', as it were. You could also try filing a dmca for them stealing your site design.
If they've stolen your design, drop them a strongly worded email and they'll probably change it, otherwise go up to the next level and contact their host. Whenever anyone's stolen my content/designs before I've found that a quick word with the thief or their host tends to sort out the problem.
I had a problem last year which I reported to Google over the course of about 4 months (about 20ish reports in total). They did get them removed - eventually. I wouldn't rely on just reporting to Google, contact their host. Stuart
Have you contacted their host? (assuming you can find out who it is). I usually find that hosts will pull the plug on stolen content if you can easily show that their client has stolen it from somewhere else (fairly simple in this case) and imply that you might come after them if they don't comply with your request.
Do a whois on them and report it to there hosting provider, also goto http://www.ripperhunting.com/ and report them. May not do alot but they have alot of users there that go to the site that is doing the ripping and send nasty emails.
These guys are getting up my goat too. For one, they ripped off my site www.googleidol.com about 2 weeks after I launched with theirs, www.googleidols.com. I don't really mind because theirs is quite ordinary, but just seeing them mentioned here reminded me. They're a Brisbane, Australia company and have a bunch of web projects out there. myspacegeeks.com is just one of the many they have. I'm not sure if they do them all together, or if they're a network of copycats operating out of Brisbane. Their sites are all horribly littered with pop-ups/unders and generally serve no purpose at all. If you check Alexa, all their sites are located in Brisbane and some point to http://www.brisbanewebsitedesign.com/
I seen your site on the Fox32 Chicago News... Google Idol that is. What a shame to see someone rip it off and call it googleidols...
Is this all real? he actually stole stuff? hmm..people say he 'claim's' to earn 1.5k per day from his site which i chekd and only has 25,000 vistors a day. sounds like he's bs'in bigtime
