I dont think it woudl be wise to cash in now, its smart you want to develop it. I think you should invest a little bt of money into web design and crate a great looking links directory. Make it look professional imo, If you need help or ideas with marketing this domain pm me. keep it for another 10 years and see what its worth then.
Hi, Thanks for the advice and offer. I think that at this time I would like to develop the site and see if I can create something worthwhile. But I will be sure to get back with you, should I decide to sell. Thanks again for your interest. Rich
Thanks for the advice. I agree that it is probably worthwhile to develop at this point. I'll get in touch with you to discuss any ideas that you might have. Regards, Rich
Hi, Thanks for the link. I like the way they set it up, but a couple of questions for anyone who wants to chime in: 1) Are there just too many of these kind of sites on the net at this time? 2) Is this a valid way to monetize a site, like www.links.com, over the long term. That is build up a user base with serious interests that is good for advertising and/or ecommerce? Thanks for your thoughts. Rich
I think your domain could be much bigger than leenks (you have a better domain name), and I know it must get a TON of traffic. Every once in a while I get one of my sites linked. A single link from leenks, in a single day, sent me about 7500 uniques. I can only imagine his overall numbers. There is always room for more sites with quality links. Heck, that is what the internet is all about. If it were mine, I would do a site like leenks. There will always be cool sites to link to.
Hi again, Well, you make some very solid points. I am going to give this some serious consideration. If I wanted to build a site like this, what is the best way to search for the appropriate developer? A site like this seems to be reasonably straightforward, but I would want to make it unique. One thing I do like about the present Links theme, is that it dedicated to high quality, and I would like to continue this theme. I do think there is excellence out there in the web world, that deserves exposure. I would appreciate any additional comments on this. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I very much do appreciate the generosity of everyone who has replied to me. Regards, Rich
hI, Thanks much for the link. I will definitely be reviewing it. Looks like I have a couple of busy weeks ahead of me. But things are beginning to take shape. I hope I am able to create something that will benefit all those who have contributed so far. I will be aiming for this. Thanks again. Rich
Your current design is really awful for a domain name that good You should hire a freelance web developer to design a nice website that goes well with the quality of the domain name.
A linkdump? I'd be so disappointed Linkdumps get traffic from the sites that are in their toplist (on the sidebar)... your "friends" send you traffic to get onto the toplist, and when they do you'll be sending them traffic so that you move up in their toplists, too. The most successful one I know of is slackernetwork...
Hell of a nice domain there guy. I would sell it off personally, but I need to pay off some student loans. Anyway, a great site to maybe start a link brokering site like TLA (Text-Link-Ads) or something.
Start a leenks.com With a domain name like that, and digitalpoint here, we'd all submit you good content, and then you could always just advertise on leenks and steal their users
Yes, I agree. I do believe that I will be incrementally adding ideas, functionality, and useful design to the site. My primary goal is to make the site useful to visitors and web developers using a minimalistic design that will be attractive to all types of visitors/developers. While, I may not be as successful as Google was in achieving these two goals, I do hope that I can at least create something unique enough that it will add some new value to the web. Appreciate your comments, Rich
