.. But I can't get in touch with the owner of it.. ! I won't reveal the name on this forum, but the domain name is GREAT for a project Im working on.. Here is the ting about the domain.. It was first registred back in 1998, and according to archive.org the frontpage has been the same since.. and the frontpage looks like this: "domain.com is coming soon". In other words, the domain haven't been used for like 8 years. I did a little research on the owner, and it turns out he's the owner of http://www.logicalsites.com/ ! I don't really know how big this company is, but the guy looks like this: Looks pretty slick, doesn't he? If you where to try geting a domain from him, how would you do it? Im not really made of money, so buying it for a couple of thousand dollars is out of the question..
Well youll have to get in touch with the owner one way or another, so that would be a good place to start. You say you cant get in touch with him - why?
Yeah, I know how to get in touch with him.. but how should I start? By looking interrested in the domain? that would probally set the price to many thousand dollars..
Possibly, but then again you're not even sure the owner is willing to sell. Youll just have to try and see. Try making an offer first. I wouldnt go through a domain broker.
Yea. that kinda is the breaks of buying old domains..If they are real old and aged some people will want alot of $$
He has been renewing the domain for 8 years for a reason, he's not doing it to have something to put on his tax returns. If he had wanted it bad enough to renew it that long its gonna take some $$ to renew it. If its been registered for 8 years find out what the registrar charges for a years registration and calculate what the guy invested in just keeping it registered. Then double that value and if it is within your budget offer it to him.
Call him and see if he is interested in selling it. It's a double edged sword though. If expiry is somewhat close then maybe you could catch it on the drop or win it at auction but if he doesnt use the email address anymore you are alerting him that he is about to lose a great name and then he may not be interested in selling. When I get calls to buy domains I probably sell to 1 out of 7. I turned down a lot of email offers for wii dot us and sold to someone who called me. Worth a shot anyway. GL, hope you get it!
Tell him that you are intersested & you would be a reasonable price. See what he has to say. Also, have you looked into domain.net ?
I hope you are not looking for a 3 leeter domain or a domain name like date.com or match.com or something purely generic.... in which case there are so many alternatives... a lil compromise wont make any difference
Looks like everyone else has given the right ideas here, so all I can probably say are good luck and consider other options if things don't work out for you.
how's it going ? I'm new hear but this thread showed up in my google news account. As a domain owner who has sold many names, the easiest way to get the domain is to pick up the phone and call the person. You never know what will transpire. Buying a domain is no different than buying a piece of property that is "just sitting" there to your eyes. He may have a plan for it. He may be using it for email. You never know. He may be waiting for the right guy to call him up and pitch him a good idea and a price. BTW I'd be a bit peeved at my picture showing up on a random posting . Just a tip
that's something i won't do you'll pay the fees for the sedo broker, that aren't the lowest on the planet
Not only that they are likely to screw it up. The brokers who have contacted me have always done so by email and were not exactly seasoned domainers.
Plus, now the domain owner thinks you have a little bit of cash to throw around since you hired a professional broker.
dont user mass brokers like sedo .. . if you really want a broker find a experience domainer here at digital point and they will help you for a price
